Thumbs up Old Employer/New Employer

I got news last Monday that the company I work for is closing its Midwest Division on May 27th. I was kinda bummed about it- I thought I had a job until the end of June; however, things progressed faster than anyone imagined. To make matters worse, my wife is pregnant w/ our 3rd child.

I saw this coming and had sent out a few resumes the week before, made several contacts the beggining of last week, and already had an interview set up for last Monday. I had also been in talks with another company, but they are waiting on word about a big contract and didn't think they could offer me a position before August. I went into this interview not really expecting that I would accept the position if it was offered to me. Turns out, he got my attention when he said the job would be a 36% salary increase, and I go back to hourly, so I'm OT eligible. They made me an offer on Thursday, and I acccepted on Friday. I start on the 31st. Not bad for finding out you have less than 2 weeks before you're unemployed.

This new position is for technical review of petroleum contamianted sites to the Indiana Dept. of Environmental Management. It could end up being pretty boring, but I think I'll be able to suffer through it for at least a year or 2...

RP - I expect all of your quarterly CAPRs, FSIs, CAPs, etc... submitted on time and without any deficiences!!!

That must have been beer floating on top of the water that I pulled up in a bailer last week. It all makes sense now...

Do work for the company that recently fired my old company (Handex)? Although the facility isn't utlized like it used to be be, the company I'm refering to still has a Rock Island...
