Unhappy Dad sold the GN...

We delivered it to its new owner Saturday morning. It was hard to let it go, but...

Dad was in the hospital getting a few gall stones removed, but the guy had already bought plane tickets, when Dad went into the hospital. He's doing good, and will get his gall bladder removed in the morning.

It was probably best that Dad wasn't there. He didn't really want to part with it, but it was so nice he didn't want to drive it, so this was best...

The Stang is sold too. The new owner will be having it shipped sometime Tuesday or later. The check cleared, and all is good. I hate to see it go too, but I'm ready for it to be out of my way. I've been keeping it in the garage, and haven't really done much with the Belvedere, just because I'm too lazy to move the Stang...

Looks like I'll probably be back in a Ford sometime this winter. Mom is looking to get a new Sport Trac, and I'll probably buy her '03 Edge...

Well, have a good one everybody...

I remember when I sold my first GN,I owned it from 90-97.I drove it quite a bit the first few years I had it but then it became a garage queen.Originally I was psyched about selling it but after it was gone it was an awful feeling. The next summer I was in the market for another GN to drive and enjoy,no more garage queens for me.So I found my driver, then felt the need to have one to play with at the drag strip. So I built my GNX clone and it ended up being more of a show car than a race car.
I've been pulling my hair out of my head for the last few hours.I was at a show today and some guy offered to trade an 01 ZO6 for my GNX clone.I really have no interest in the ZO6,my Buick is faster. It's just the fact that the ZO6 is worth a lot more $$ than I have in the Buick and I could sell it for more $.But I have tons of blood sweat and tears in that car.
Hopefully your dad has no regrets about selling his GN.

Hey, I know how you feel, and I'm sure Dad will have his regrets... but I think he's better off. It was just taking up space in the shop. He took it to a few car shows, but that was about it... I've been tempted to find a clean T-Type to play around with and drive, but I'm seriously thinking next summer about a finding a clean 86-87 El Camino SS or a '71 GMC Sprint or El Camino.

I've got a TPI setup just waiting for something to go in... Although, I may end up buying the '77 Camino off Dad. If I do it will probably get the TPI and a 5 or 6 speed manual... That's what I seem to be missing the most about the Stang... althought there's still talk around here of a new Sky or Solstice next summer... but whatever happens I'll be driving the '77 as is till at least Winter, maybe next Spring or Summer... I'll probably end up with some sort of El Camino. They ride like a car, but are practical like a small truck...

Glad to know your Dad is good.

Sad to hear that the two rides are gone. They were both sweet.

Monte carlo, Malibu, Cutlass, Grand Prix, Buick Regal and the Grand National are the same car except for engines and body, but underneath thier all the same car, I would like to put a 400 chevy engine, 5sp manual and a Gm 12 bolt possi rear in one of thease cars, before the T bird, Thease cars ruled NASCAR, But had week door pins and bushing's, every Gm car from this decade had door's that would not close properly, GNX is the only way to go with the Grand national, but they had week Tranny's, But hell, in thier day and today the GN is a hell of a car..

A GN tranny isn't weak in a stock GN and is usually good for 100k miles. In a highly modded
GN they can become a weakness. Many people who drag race GNs use stock (built)200 4R tranny up to 500+ hp.Once they get 600hp and up they use 400 turbo trannys.Keep in mind a GN 200 4R tranny is different than a 200 4R Monte SS tranny. The GN 200 tranny has a BRF code and I can't recall the code but a Monte SS 200 4R has a different code. The GN also has a 8.5" 10 bolt rear and the Chebby has a 7.5" rear.

Where do I find this code? I've got a 200-4R in the '77, and often wondered where it came from...

There should be a tag approximately 1"x3" with a code on it.It should be on the passenger side of the tailshaft,it's a few inches forward from the where the drive shaft goes.
