Thumbs up If Poison Ivy drives you nuts PLEASE READ THIS!!!

This may be WAY off topic, but I will bet that there is SOMEONE out there that this information will be helpful to -

In my younger days I never use to "get" Poison Ivy, I could sit right in the middle of it and it wouldn't bother me a bit.

As I get older it does affect me now, and my wife can look at it and "get" it nearly to the point of having to be hospitalized. When she gets this stuff and it gets her irritated and itchy she can make Matilda the Hun look like a sweet little kittycat.

We used to do the Caladryl / Calamine lotion, hydrocortisone, or even have to go to the Doctor for a prescription, or steroids, or a shot of something.

I just found an over the counter remedy, coming as close to being a "cure" for Poison Ivy as I would ever expect to find anywhere.

This will not help if the Poison Ivy were to get "systemic", but for the rest of us this is IT in terms of being a wonderful solution to an otherwise aggravating problem.

When you apply this stuff exactly as described on the box, the relief from itch comes within just a few minutes or less. You can sleep at night, never having to wake up to scratch the itch and irritation, and the rash will begon to subside by the next morning. A day or so later you almost never know you had it. You DO need to keep treating new eruptions and irritations, but the "drive you nuts" itching will be gone.

This stuff is called "Zanfel", and I have found NOTHING else that works like this does. It is a little on the expensive side, maybe $40.00, we got ours at CVS Pharmacy, but Doctor's appointments and shots, prescription drugs, otc remedies that do not work also cost (and waste) money.

We have never found ANYTHING else that comes as close to being a cure (or at least near instant relief) as this stuff does.

Hope that steering wheel doesn't have any Poison Ivy oils on it when you put it there...

I will keep it mind also. My last bout was with poison oak and it took over a month for me to get rid of it totally. Even with massive doses of steroids. At this point if I see anything with 3 leaves, I run like he!!. And as a kid, never a problem.

Yes, that stuff works great. So far this spring I have had 2 'bush bonds' that just happened that I caught and tackled them in huge poison ivy vines. As soon as I got off shift I put the Zanfel on per directions and both times I was clear in a day. I am very alergic to the all 3 types, ivy, oak and sumac. Best thing was a military bud of mine gave me a tube as they get it issued to them!

I'm not joking, I wouldn't have ever thought of the idea of putting a steering wheel down my pants, whoever would do that needs to be told to wipe the wheel clean, both before going in and before coming out...

Matilda the Hun, is a takeoff of the name "Attilla the Hun" who wuz a meanoldbadguy a few years ago. Translation is that my wife isn't a happy camper when she used to itch from poison ivy that was so bad that she could not sleep for several nights in a row.

The first time she used this stuff, her itch was completely gone after about 30 seconds, and the rash was gone in a couple of days.

I have heard that it doesn't work for everybody, but everyone I know of who has tried it says that it worked for them.

Poison ivy can be dangerous. A few years back a neighbor was burning weeds and overgrowth, while neighbors next door were on their back deck. One person inhaled the smoke, got poison ivy on her insides and nearly died from it.

When I notice neighbors burning weeds where there is possibility of being any pi, we go inside just to be sure.

Thanks for the information - most people don't know anything close to a "cure" for poison ivy, now we know about two of 'em...
