Oil drilling in Texas...scam or not??

Have any of you invested in oil drilling in Texas? A co-worker received a call out of the blue and then a packet of info from someone wanting him to invest a minimum of $12K to pay for oild drilling equipment. they own the land and they are looking for investors. I am not sure of the company name but I can get it from him.

They sent him a huge packet of information along with fancy color graphics showing all of the oild locations and geology reports, etc.

Have any of you done this or heard about this?

Its a scam........... Land owners don't need to drill for oil, other people do it for them and at far less money than they could do it themselves. Startup capital and monetary risks are far too high for somebody to just start poking holes in their back yard. On top of that, go out to an well that they are currently drilling, and you'll see at a minimum of about 5 different companies out there each doing their own thing. Its too much for most of these established companies to do by themselves let alone somebody trying to do it on their own.

Sounds too good to be true.... probably is.

I can't speak for your situation but my cousin's husband solicits investors for oil wells in Texas for a living. I'm not sure if they contact individuals or companies/corporations but that's what he does for a living.

FIRST QUESTION.....Why are you asking me to invest in your venture??? Who am I to you?? With all the Multi-billionaires around with mucho venture capital....why are you talking to me??

12K is chump change when it comes to business financing. Once again...."If it looks like a Duck and Quakes like a duck....It must be a Duck"?

I'd burn it and run in the opposite direction. Take a cab if you have a heart problem.

Talking

Some of the same guys probably sell low priced land 50 miles EAST of the Atlantic Coast, by the cubic acre...

I don't think the Nigerian Scams are into land and oil deals, they have money they want to give away to you, remember.

Like the email we all get almost daily -

Dear Mr whatever your name is,

You don't know me, but I found your email address on the internet, and I trust you (you may be related to someone who is related to me) so much that I want to GIVE you 10% of $30M for letting me xfer money from my dear departed Daddy's soon to be seized accounts into your account if you will please supply me with your account information so we can expedite this.

I feel like telling them that they do not even NEED my account information. I will make it easier than that, especially since they are in so much of a hurry. Simply email the $30M to me through PayPal, and when I get it I will give them back their share. They should KNOW that they can trust me since they already stated that in their introductory email, RIGHT?
