unbelievable... i purchased this item from this POS about 2.5 years ago. mailed him a cashiers check (yes, it was stupid). finally get ahold of the guy after 6 months of him not returning my calls, and he tells me it burned up in a fire....he isnt returning the money.

i see it listed by the same guy, on ebay today http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ROPER...spagenameZWDVW

You are right..........never, never, never send anyone money for ebay stuff.

However, it has nothing to do with eBay and everything to do with personal responsibility and common sense.

Never, never, never, (ever, ever?) buy anything on eBay without using a credit card. It's the only protection you have as a buyer.

Common sense.

Ebay is as safe as you are careful. Look at the guys feedback, What were you thinking? I hate to say it but its not Ebay's fault...its yours! I have had over 4000 transactions on Ebay (both buying and selling) with out any major problems. Just be careful and Ebay is an awsome place to find things you have been looking for.

Yeah, how could you not know the guy is a thief, he has 19 negative comments and over 750 positive comments!

WTF are you smoking, Dodgeboy?

While I agree it's not eBay's fault, this seller's rating has nothing to do with whether he is dependable or not. eBay security is an attempt, but they can only do so much. Buyer Beware.

BTW, I sold my '00 SCrew to a guy from 1600 miles away in 2001, and I have purchased three items over $5k on ebay with absolutley no trouble...

let me rephrase it.

this ebay experience stinks.

#1 my fault, i trusted someone i should not have, it has not happened since.

#2 ebays "security" measures are a joke, by this i mean that all you will get from them is a form letter, no ones name or phone number or personal email address. they know this stuff goes on. i think they should be up front that ebay is the wild west, you are on your own and they take no resposibilty and no real attempt top resolve the problem.

#3, this guy is a POS, i own a small mfg business and i extend credit all over the Unites States, in my 20 year i have been burned plenty but only 3 times have i had someone plain and simple say, i got your stuff (or your money) and i am not returning it, i am keeping the product and the money. this was one of my first ebay transaction and i have more than made up for it. Seeing the guy relist the product i already paid for just flaired it up. in most instances 97.5 % success rate is good, At the time i didnt realize that it was bad. do business with 100 people and you will rub a few the wrong way.

[QUOTE]Cry me a river. Ebay Rocks and you didn't handle the situation as you should have.[QUOTE]

i will save that one to throw back at you next time you have g/f problem

Well "Gomer Pyle", IMO...19 or so negatives saying "the guy is a liar and ripped me off" should be a f*ing clue not to send him a f*ing cashiers check (basicaly CASH). So if your stupid enough to do it and you get burned then don't blaim ebay....blaim YOURSELF.

To say a seller's rating has nothing to do with whether he is dependable or not has got to be the stupidest comment ever posted on this board. How the hell do you figure that? Feedback is everything when it comes to Ebay. Obviously you have no idea what your talking about. BTW 3 transactions over $5K...WOW!!! Forgive me if I am not impressed! I am a power seller with over 1700 postives and ZERO negatives. In the last 12 months I have spent over $50K on Ebay (including a 04 DeVille for my mom). Trust me when I tell you feedback ratings are EVERYTHING. Dealing with a reputable seller with postive feedback is as safe as paying cash at Wal-Mart...anything else is a gamble.

This is not true...you can request the personal info of anyone you have dealings with (ie bought from or sold something to). You will get their name, address, and phone number...at least the one they provided to Ebay. You also have seller protection up to either $500 or $250...had you filed a claim with them you would have gotten that much of your money back.

I would recommend that in the future anytime you send payment other than through PayPal that you send a Postal Money Order. If a seller accepts and cashes a postal money order and doesn't send you your item you can file a fraud claim through the post office and the postal inspectors will investigate and resolve the issue. If you send a basic money order (drawn from 7-11 or where ever) or a cashier's check and you get screwed you basicaly are still own your own.

Yup, forgive me if I'm not impressed.

To quote eBay: "The email address ramsst1997@hotmail.com is used by a valid eBay member with a feedback score of 0 (0% positive). "

But I'm sure there's another reason for that.

To get back to the topic and away from the drivel, I will stand by the intent of my statement. I admit when taken out of context it cannot stand alone. In any event, eBay ratings do not determine whether a seller is dependable or not. There are other methods of checking out whether a seller is dependable, including checking out whether they are a legitimate business, their S&P rating, and other credit/background checks. eBay ratings carry no legal or civil liability or standard of proof, therefore they really mean nothing...even if the seller is a "Power Seller". But I'm sure a "Power Seller" knows that.

Sign me, proud of being called "Gomer Pyle", even by the likes of you. Ooorah.

I'll chime in on this one. Ebays security is a joke. In order to get the protection claims paid, you have to jump through 407 hoops, pass 132 bills in congress, and get the president of the US to sign the check. I know, I have tried from the one time my dad got scammed.

And paypal, well, beyond that they offer the buyer a "little" protection, they are a PIA to sellers. Paypal will negate all seller policies and put theirs in the place of them. I have had several things I sold that were sold as is, damaged, that got charged back and paypal in their infinate ignorance will find for the buyer. I finally realized, you leave no money in your paypal aco**** at any time for any reason. That way, if a charge back occurs, they can't steal your money. Thats the reason I am on my third paypal account.

I have had one problem with an ebay transaction. I went through the Square whatever resolution deal. What an F'ing joke that is, all you have to do is ignore their request for information, for I think 3 or 5 times and they consider it solved. So if I F somone over all I have to do is ignore them and it will go away.

Ebay is not on the buyer's side as they are not making any coin off of the buyer just the seller.
