I know most of you don't follow the American Idol thread, but I think you should listen to Chris Daughtry who is the lead singer of Absent Element and an Idol vote off. There is some controversy with him being eliminated. He has an awesome voice. Try it out and let me know what you think. Especially the songs Keep Me Close and Conviction.

 

I've been hearing all this talk of him joining Fuel or going solo. Does this mean AE is over? BTW, my fiance would call me into the front room when he was on. I liked to hear him and that guy from last year, but couldn't take much more of the show...

 

I hope Absent Element isn't over. Have you listened to their songs? I think this could be their big breakthrough. I heard that he is just listening to offers now.

No, it's been mentioned on a few radio stations. Hope he doesn't blow them off. And you should see their message boards. Tell your GF to visit that website. I have the same user name there.

 

Well, I brought em over here awhile back. I have been a fan since the first time I saw Chris on American Idol, and that was by accident.

I caught the last few seconds of his Hemmorage performance, and I had to interupt my wife and kiddo to rewind it....("TIVO" is great, huh).


After that, I did a search, and found www.absentelement.com Listened to some of their music, and I WAS HOOKED. I bought their CD, and it has never left my HU in my truck.

I love being an *** sometimes.

 

I went and listened to their songs about a month back, and read through the lyrics. I absolutely love their sound, but the lyrics were a little depressing on one or two songs.

Still, I might buy the disc.

Whether or not I do will depend on what Chris does. When he originally tried out for the show, he was real loyal to his band, and his wife wanted him to make it because of all he's done for her. Now, if he let's all this go to his head and becomes an egomaniac, and becomes an *** by dropping AE, then I won't support him. Unfortunately, I think that's exactly what he's going to do. His comments this week seem to indicate he's going be a jerk and abandone the band. Plus, I would guess that since he's the bomb now with mainstream (and women), he'll dump his wife since she doesn't look like a fashion model.

I just have a bad feeling, but hope that I am very wrong.

 

I really think something messed up that Chris is no longer on that show. He is no doubt one of the best singers on that show. Although I did like Picker for a little bit, then she started to get weird and sucked at her songs which I'm glad she got booted off that show. Chris though??? Why him?? How could he go before that nerd Eliot?? I can't stand that guy. It should have been between Chris and Taylor for the top two. Now we all know A.I is a hoax now.

 

Honestly, I think people voted for their second favorite, to keep them on the show one more week. Too many people thought Chris was a lock for another week. It just goes to show that you have to vote for who you want to win and let the chips fall where they may.

As far as AE, I like Chris; but, the band doesn't really impress me musically. The song writing leaves something to be desired. If Chris doesn't leave them, he's a flash in the pants. On his own, with a good record label and material, or with an established (current) band, he has a good future.

 

What's so stupid about a little entertainment? It's a friggin' TV show man. Get a grip. If you don't like it, fine. There are probably a few things that you enjoy that don't appeal everyone else.

America votes for Idol because it's easy to do. You pick up your phone and call in your vote... and like Chicago, Detroit, and New Orleans, you can vote as many times as you want. Voting in national and local elections are made as inconvenient as possible to deter the working class (Read backbone of America) from showing out in numbers that dwarf those of the homeless, retirees, the unemployed, and welfare legacy voters. Every time election reform is brought up in Congress, racial disenfranchisement (Read Racism) is rolled out by the left.

 

Actually, this thread isn't about American Idol. It's about a talent that we were all able to see because of that show. And IMO, Chris Daughtry is not your typical "pop star" that we usually see on American Idol.

 

I'm not a real fan of pop anymore, but I was as shocked as everyone else that Chris got voted off. I really thought he had the best voice.

He really banged out the Elvis tunes the last night. He could make a good living just doing Elvis.

But, don't worry. A good talent like that will go far. I'm sure he is already working on a contract.
