Made in America?
Made in America?
We all know that it's not always easy to say..."Buy American; Buy Chevy; Ford; GM" because you dont always know the full story.
Did you know that the Toyota Sienna has more American components than the Ford Mustang? Does that count for anything or is it more important to make sure 'Profits' stay here as opposed to overseas?

I think we have to support our own businesses but if foreign cars are being made here with American parts; thats great too.

x2...............
where the profits go is the lamest argument I've ever heard.
Profits go to shareholders. There are Ford shareholders living in Japan. There are Toyota shareholders living in the US.
No one has a gun to anyones head forcing them to buy Ford stock over Toyota stock.

agreed... i work for a nissan dealership, and our vehicles are more "american" than the big 3. forget profits, pay the american worker..... but at the end of the day, its ur paycheck u are spending, get what YOU want!!!!!
The "buy American" argument sounds like a great, patriotic thing to say/do. However, when you look at the economics of the statement the act of buying American doesn't produce the intended purpose. "Buying American" can and does actually hurt the U.S. economy sometimes. What we should be doing is buying the best product for the best price regardless of where it is manufactured and that will help the economy more, its all about comparative advantages and mutual gains.
I like the setiment of "Buy American" and all things being equal I generally will buy something made in the US vice somewhere else. But I will not take a product that is inferior and/or more expensive simply for the sake of American jobs.
