Do you guys honestly believe everything you read on the internet? I mean honestly?

Where did that story actually come from?

What in the world is the government going to do with billions of phone calls daily and how in the heck are they going to compile all that data? and who in the heck is going to analyze it?

Guess I'll have to eat a little crow on that first statement... I just saw it reported on the news. :o

I'll still stick to the last part though... not really sure what that much raw data would do anyone.

Its designed to develop calling patterns.

Calling patterns can show behavior - typical and atypical.

I understand that, but the resources to do that with probably what approaches a billion calls a day would be mind boggling.

Heck, the girl that works across the hall from me probably makes 100 personal phone calls a day in 8 hours all by herself.

one would think they have a program setup to analyze and store the data..

but what patterns are they looking for? Is GW looking into the phone business, and this is his way of getting an upper hand on future customers?

According to the poll, 65 percent of those interviewed said it was more important to investigate potential terrorist threats "even if it intrudes on privacy."

Fear will drive people to do many things they will later regret.
