Thumbs down Drove a Hemi today.....

Another firefighter at the dept was having some problems with the 1997 F-250 that he had so it was time to look for a new truck. Ended up buying a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I took it for a spin and to be honest with you, I was not impressed by it at all!

Sure, it is a nice truck, but all the hype about the Hemi is WAY OVER-RATED. I feel like my 99 F-150 with a 4.6 is quicker than the big a$$ 5.7 Hemi. Sure, the towing is way more on it but this thing felt like a pig to me.

Thiers no way a 4.6 is even close to a 5.4 performance wise (trucks) it it will be debated as to the 5.7 hemi being more stout than the Ford 5.4, Dodge has a wide rang of gearing, from 3.20 all the way to 410 ( I'm mixing 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks ) I Fact orderd a 2500 ram with the hemi and a 6 sp manual, I have drivin 1/2 Ram quad cabs and I would bet the Farm thier quicker than Ford, How ever the 5.4 3v makes it's peek hp/T at a lower Rpm, The 5.7 has to rev a lot higger to get the claimed HP/T and two sparky's per cy adds to the maintence cost's, I prefer the Ram over the Ford cause it's a truck, I'm the first to admit a 04+ F-150 will out handel any stock truck, But I continue to have my issues with the 04 F-150, I'm looking Forward to the new Dodge Ram.

That's nice. I don't care for the semi-hemi's. They aren't true hemi's anyway, it's all a gimmic.

WHAT??? There is no way on earth that a 4.6 Ford motor is quicker than a Hemi with a 5 speed auto. If you felt it was, even in a heavier 2500 truck, your seat-o-the-pants-o-meter needs recalibrating right quick...

KC-10 FE out...

I dunno about the Hemi hype; I think they're just *** ugly trucks. A "crew cab" Dodge's backseat ain't much bigger than my Supercab's back seat. 'Bout the only way I'd drive a Dodge if it was a 2500 or 3500 with a Cummins. At least I can take comfort in knowing that the engine will outlast the rest of the truck three or four times over.

...

Plus there are less Dodge parts in those. The entire drive train is outsourced.
