shelby Not really worth the fuss

I just watched a 10 minute video of the new mustang shelby. It is nice and it is going to be super fast but they said them selves that they will make about 7500-10000 a year.Thats alot of cars.I have witnessed myself that every dealership is pre sold out for the first year. Some dealers are gettting almost $100k for these cars pre sold on ebay. After watching the video, the car looks very plain to me and is hardly worth the kind of money they are fetching. If i decide to buy one, i will wait a year and let all the idiots pay over MSRP the first year and ill buy the second year after they improve the car..They made it very clear that the car will be produced many years.Yes it will be a super fast car for around $40k but still kinda plain.Like usual, they took a real head turner and made it alot more simple. This video must of had 3 or 4 different colored cars driving around and alot of information from the host.Even mentioned another Lightning in the future. Not soon enough though.I plan on buying a 07 new body silverado and putting a whipple on it .Ford lost my respect after no new lightning that outsells all other SVT vehicles and replacing it with cars like gt 40 which should have been the lightning drivetrain not a car that nobody will ever drive. There are hundreds all over ebay. What a waste!!!!Its all about the $$ not what people want.I own a 05 ford f150 and i can tell you its the worst truck i have ever owned.the 4.6 has NO power and gets horrible gas mileage. You cannot reach in the P/U body without gouging your chest because its too deep , and the seats are the most uncomfortable seats i have ever sat in.Thank god its a work truck,it will be gone soon. Not soon enough.did i mention the regular cabs are not even regular cabs anymore?? What a waste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If i wanted more space, i would buy the extended cab .The idiots at ford dont realize ,the people who buy regular cabs specifically want regular cabs.!!!almost every truck i see now is extra cab or crew, dealers dont even stock reg cabs anymore because they are butt ugly!!

its your own fault for buying a 4.6 then if it has no power. also your own fault for buying it if you hate it so much. also this isn't a mustang forum.. or 04+ f150 forum...

???

Ford builds what most people want. Most people want a supercab or a crewcab. Most people do NOT want a standard cab. Most people who do asked for more room behind the seats, hence the extra space. The 05 F-150 is not meant to be a fast, put you in the the back of your seat truck like a lightning. The reason they quit building them is because they could not find enough people to fork over the money to buy a truck that you cannot put any cargo in or tow much of anything at all.
There are these little things called market studies and surveys. They mean a lot to Ford and say a lot about what their customers want. Unfortunately for you, you are in the very small minority of truck buyers. So, go on over to your new chevy truck and they can listen to you bitch about everything you don't like about their pickups and cars.

Actually the Lightning is all truck. It has a good payload capacity, good towing capacity and it hauls a$$ pretty good.

I'm also not so sure that the reasons given are actually the reasons Ford stopped the Lightning.

I really liked the new mustang 'till I saw the Camaro concept. The sides are too straight on the Mustang; but, the power in the GT-500 sure is going to be tempting.

Well I just thought I'd add...
I drive a regular cab and love it. I actually think my truck is the only one of it's kind and I don't know why Ford didn't build more like it

4.6L V8
4x4
Regular Cab
Flareside (The flareside on the 97 - 03 models looks so good!!!)
Standard Transmission (This is a biggy.. The Ford dealership here doesn't carry a single manual anymore)

I do the majority of my driving by myself, or sometimes I take one person with me. If I really want more people, they can ride in the box, I never really go anywhere but around town and you can get from one side to the other in 5 minutes flat.

I really have no use for any extra seats. I'd only be taking them out an replacing them with an over-sized sub box anyways....

Other than the very small engine well (that all fords have it seems), this truck has been amazing.

Edit:
Why do companies keep f*cking up all the 'new classic' cars... If they just build a replica of the original, put in a new engine, and shine up the interior a little, they would sell SO many more cars. Not many people who are buying a car with a Hemi are concerned about their mileage, so who the f*ck cares if the old body style isn't "aerodynamic" enough... Damn... I suppose the safety rating comes into play... just put a big warning on it, "NOT SAFE DURING COLLISION". All set

"hey, remember the old Chargers? Let's make a new car, make it really round, quiet, and family-oriented, just like everything else on the market. Then we will call it a Charger! We'll be rich!!"
^ It's too bad that actually works.

I love how some guys will compare a XL work truck with a 4.6 to a new 2007 Chevy LS loaded and then run the ford down. WTF do you think?

Maybe you should have boughten the 5.4, a higher trim line or maybe it is best your leaving.

Actually the Lightning can carry a payload of around 1,200lbs and tow 5,000lbs. You’re XL or XLT new 2005 F150 can’t tow that much more…

In any case the main reason, in my opinion, Ford did not continue the Lightning is because the SRT-10 (Dodge) spanked Ford bad and Ford could not compete and thus wussed out…

Ford had no problems whatsoever finding plenty of buyers for the Lightning and the Lightning maintains one of the highest resell values of any truck. Currently you would be very luck to buy a used 03 Lightning for less then $25,000 even with mileage around 30 – 40,000.

Ford dropped the ball a while ago with their F150’s and I would say they will continue to lose market share to Toyota and Nissan due to their lack of quality and style…

I have a 2005 Ranger as well and it’s not a bad truck at all but as far as full size I don’t see myself purchasing a new F150 anytime soon simple due to poor workmanship, quality and style. The Toyota’s are looking pretty good lately…

Ford needs to ante up and relsease a lightning SVT slammin about 500 to the ground (not that flywheel rating chit) Then, they need to build enough of the GT500's that the common man can get one for sticker, not sticker x 3.

Also, for those of you who don't read Car and Driver, there was a real good article this month about the three cars that could save Ford NOW. There are all Austrailian Fords that aren't available here. And one of the is a 400HP turbo. Now where the hell is our 400HP turbo econo car?

maybe you should wake the f^&%$ up and realize worktruck or loaded XLT the facts remain the same.

Fuel economy s u c k s
bed is too deep to actually use daily
seats are uncomfotable
4.6l does NOT have enough power to move the much heavier truck on a daily basis.

maybe you should wake up and dont be such an idiot and realize some people still buy trucks to work unlike 90% of the publiclike you who owns then?????? exactly!!.Therefore is you re read my and others post, 5.4 or LS dont mean ***** cause you still have a bad designed truck!!!!!!!!!!!.

When you can find enough people to tell me that they love their seats, get the claimed 20mpg, and say the truck is powerful as the vortec 4.3Lv6!!! then ill retract my statement.Until then, I will believe myself and the other REAL people who own the new f150..............Idiot

ill tell ya what, i will go buy a chevy 4.3 v-6 WORK truck and i will race anybody on here with a new f150 unmodded at NE dragway for titles.Yes i really will

i will go buy a chevy 5.3L (biggest motor) and will have professionally tested againts anybodys new f150 4.6l for fuel mileage for titles.

If anybody is stupid enough and actually has their title, let me know .................until then *** off......

oh yea one more thing for all you new Lightning owners and the rest of the new crowd.

I just saw the post about "what happened to all the old timers" .This is why WE dont post anymore, seems all the new owners are know it alls and have bad attitudes worse than me which is hard.

i have been on here since 2000 (2 screennames) Any of the old timers will tell you that.

Im pretty sure have also owned more lightnings than anybody (except tuners) on here . 4 brand new ones since 1999. Yes that is 4.I have forgotten more about the lightning than 3/4 of you know it alls will ever know.
I was running chips when all you knew people thought they were lays potato chips.I have witness first hand EVERY new mod from every vender that is here now or was here 6 years ago. I ordered the first lightning to hit my area in 1999 !!I was THE ford fun weekend champion in 2000 running high 12s which used to be fast.

Did you even test drive it or check any of these things out before you bought it?
