Married!

Wow, craziness.....

Long time member, but not a big poster.....however thought I would post this after all of the negative threads I have been seeing as of late.

My girlfriend and I eloped last week. Although we have only been together for 5 months, I know she is the one for me. She is an ER resident and I met her when she came to do a ride a long on the ambulance as part of her training. Things moved very quickly and very smoothly. We are very happy together and decided, why not get married? So, in about 4-5 hours on the phone and internet, I planned a simple wedding on Jekyll Island, Georgia. She and I had vacationed there a few weeks prior and absolutely loved it there, very pretty. So, we flew down on a Friday, got the license and rings, found a retired minister and got married on a small chunk of beach on Saturday. Totally eliminated all of the hassle and BS that comes with planning a traditional wedding. We had a great time and things are wonderful. We are in the process of planning a huge party for our friends and family in the near future.

Now, I am a married man, kinda odd....

Anyways, here is a pic of the newlyweds, enjoy!

Best regards,

Mr. pgh_medic

Marriage is the second hardest thing I've ever entered into in my life -- superceded only by becoming a parent for the first time about 9 weeks ago!

Hang on for the ride, dude -- there will be times when it's a heck of a lot of fun, and times when you'd gladly crawl across a mile of broken glass just to escape the b*tch!

The two of you look happy, and thats what counts!

Also, I got married right after church on Sunday. No big bash that I had to pay for either!

Congrats pgh! Me & my sister keep saying that we're going to run off to Vegas with our significant others so that her & her boyfriend can get hitched but we haven't had the $$ to do it yet.

We got married in the courthouse, with 2 witnesses. Being that our extended families live so far away and I didnt really have the $$ for an elaborate celebration, it was the easiest way to do it. Also, got married on our one year anniversary of dating so we'll only have to remember one day, not two. Good luck, been 6 months already and I love it!

Thanks for all of the kind words everyone! Alot of people arent so positive about the whole thing, being we have only been together for 5 months....but we are very happy and intend on staying that way!

My advice to anyone looking to get married soon is to go this route! I am working with 2 people whom are getting married this year, and they are in CONSTANT fights with their spouses regarding one wedding issue or another. Provided you arent absoutely stuck doing a traditional ceremony, this was as stress free as it gets!

On another note, there is a thread about divorce right under this one, so, someone please post and bump this up! ha ha!

i had the stress free wedding ..outside...race cars..my band..whatever..

after 5 months then i'm happy you get along so good so fast ...slow down...

me and mrs zap lived together from '87 till now...but got married in '94..
see where i'm going here?

do yourself a favor and do the "family?" thing beforehand for a few years..live together
do the live together thing for a bit before you might down the road regret it...

i'm no expert..

but i saw where all my friends ended up by "rushing" into it...

glad i'm not them now....
