Anyone see United 93?
I went to see this movie with my wife yesterday. Should be mandatory viewing for anyone who calls themseves anti-war or liberal. I watched this movie not as a military member or conservative thinker but as an American. I think that my fists were clenched through most of the movie and I felt rage at those terrorist cowards. It reminded me of a very important point...United 93 was bound for San Francisco, the liberal "Mecca" if you will. So it would stand to chance that a few of those anti-war, anti-Bush, anti-military protestors would have lost or knew someone who lost someone. Maybe not, considering that there were only a little over 40 passengers on the plane. However, proves a point, some people will never change there thinking on security or war or any way that we defend ourselves because they believe in thier own utopian lifestyles. There were true heroes on that flight, some were liberal, some conservative...some Christians, some agnostics...but in the end, they had one thing in common; they experienced true EVIL and they stared it down. They buried their American fists and any weapons they could find into those terrorists and brought that plane down, before it could reach the target...the U.S. Capitol. That day and the days after, we all knew the evil of that enemy and America united, what happened America? The enemy hasn't changed, they still want us dead and it doesn't matter if you are liberal or conservative, whether you believe in Jesus Christ or are Jewish. You are an "Infidel" You are American. They want us dead.
The war didn't start at the World Trade Center or even at the Pentagon...It started in the cabin of United Flight 93...and the soldiers were Americans united in one cause. THAT'S AMERICA

thank you for sharing your thoughts on the matter, as I think they are right on and need not be overlooked. America was an amazing place to be shortly after 9/11, but being such fickle people we've gotten lazy once again.
We take it for granted that despite being hated by international terrorists in great numbers, we've gone 5 years without a terrorist attack in America. What's it going to take for us to realize things like that? another 9/11 style attack? What a shame.
I'll be seeing this movie this week for sure.

WSTAHLM80,
FICTION? You need to do some research. That movie was made using the transcripts of the flight data recorder, and the families of the victims who spoke with the passengers on the plane at the time. Very little was ad-libed. Hell, even the director of ATC played himself in the movie. Fiction? Not so! If you haven't seen the movie I suggest you do. If it was sanctioned by EVERY SINGLE family member of those on the flight I HIGHLY DOUBT TO CALL IT FICTION WOULD BE ACCURATE!

I'm not taking anything away from the people on flight 93 but in the end it is a fictional product.

Thanks Vader......by no means was I trying to berate those that died....and even more...those that defend our rights back home.....I was just wanting to point out that this movie is fiction and should be taken that way.....just because it is "based on actual events" does not make it truth.....
Yeah, I know that alot was taking from the voice recordings, conversations with family members, blah blah blah... but truth be told nobody but those aboard the plane know exactly how it played out. The movie writers made their best guess and created the screen play around what they had availble to them... it's Hollywood's best attempt, not a documentry.
It may not be "truth" and I will conceed that technically, it is fiction. However, I would venture to say that it is pretty close to what happened. Close enough that it does not matter. I will not see it, just do not need that much "truth" in my mind's eye. I would not handle it very well. I don't need to see it to realize what those people went through nor to keep me focused on who our enemy is.

All the facts do not have to be right to make us all realize one thing...On America's worst day, we took back that one plane when we knew what was going on. I hope that noone here ever gets a calling like that, but if you ever do; it makes me feel secure to think that any American would do the same. The lesson of this movie is simple, heroism, plain and simple. The families of those on the plane do NOT have to defend the reputation of those on board. The fact that the U.S. Capitol is still standing is proof of that heroism.
