global warming on HBO

did anyone see this on HBO...scarey stuff.

something is happening, is it a natural thing or have we had a part? i think it is natural but we have helped it, i dont think we have much to worry about but or kids - kids will have problems, they talked about all the effects and basically everything is effected. the Farmer right now are starting to have problems because the isnow and ice on mountain tops are melting sooner so the water for the crops is not there. Alaska is warming at a higher rate.

if alternative fuel come along, whats happens to people that make a living in the petrochemical market?

they should before and after photos from now and 50 years ago, nobody can deny that something is going on, the debate is really how much of an effect do we have on it.

You are correct that nobody can deny “something” is happening. Something has been happening for centuries. If I recall correctly, thousands of years ago there was an ice age and somehow most of that ice melted.

I would surmise it was due to some type of “global warming” as I don’t recall if there were any industries around, and for the matter, any humans driving around with automobiles…

In any regards yes there is global warming and there is absolutely nothing humans can do about it so enjoy life, fire up the BBQ, release the old CFC cans of whatever, and drive like there is no tomorrow because doing so, or not doing so, will not affect global warming…

I am doing my part to combat global warming.. I have the air conditioner on...

Seriously,, From what i have read, seen on TV. The climate changes in the past have been also quite dramatic in the speed of the change. If the information presented is correct the last ice age descended upon the northern hemisphere in a matter of a few decades.

I am sure that mans influence has had some thing to help along the global warming. The change of surface vegatation ( forest to farms, cities etc..)
fossil fuels and thr release of various chemicals. I had also read that there is not enough of co2 ( hope i named the correct gass) to support masive tree growth ( as in area) this theory also goes on to explain that this is why there are the natural occuring prairie grass lands. I always thought it was a water issue?

any how my morning ramble

watch the HBO show.

read what you wrote, "your heard it on TV", "if the information presented is correct". i am in the same boat. this is what i have heard. I like to see several sides of an issue and it is not a Democrat vs. Republican thing to me.

After the last year, I realize that after Katrina, the threat of a hurricane to my Home in Houston (evacualtion was a joke and there was no plan), I realized something very quick. They arent spending my tax dollars making any plans for future threats. Any idiot could figure out to clear a path in all direction from Houston, put up road blocks and get people out. every chicken Chit little town either left the signal lights on or had police directing traffic and were stopping the flow to let bubba go to the feed store.

Why is global warming any different?

People don't look at the big picture really, there have been huge storms and weather events for hundreds of years, they just don't get amplified like they do in our 24/7 media timecycle. Plus people don't think back 60 years to the last set of huge storms.

People like to think that they have much more say in things that are much bigger then they are, and there are people who like to blame human beings for everything that happens regardless of whether or not it's just part what just happens naturally

Silly me, I always thought the earth warms up AFTER an Ice Age, like it's been doing for hundreds of Billions of years.

Nothing HUMANS have done in the last 150 years have changed the earth.

Hell last 100 years... 100 years ago, we were still riding horses.

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF GLOBAL WARMING IS CAUSED FROM HUMANS? I want to see a number and the evidence. SHOW that to me and perhaps I'll look into it and research it on my own.

Just to add some more “information” there is absolutely NO creditable data to support in any way that humans, in any way, have contributed to global warming.

My reasoning is quit simple, with less then 1% of factual data one can not come to any logical or scientific conclusions…

The last ice age ended approximately 20,000 years ago so it would be nice to have at a minimum 2,000 years worth of weather data which would give us 10% of data to work with.

If we had that we should see a nice spike sometime around 1920 or so till present day. If you had that kind of data then you might have something halfway creditable to speak with.

We don’t have that kind of data, and NO, scientist can’t get it by digging crap up and drilling holes in the ice checking chemical make up of different layers. That is all based on “theories” and theories are just that which is the opposite of FACTS…

Many scientist believe there will be more ice ages to come but NOT because of humans. They believe tiny changes in the Earth’s orbit and rotation could cause future ice ages. I guess one could surmise from that, that perhaps it’s a good idea to close down all fast food and put all humans on a crash diet so as to lose a crap load of weight.

The “theory” behind that is weight can affect an objects balance, yes? If so then having too many fat people on one side of the earth could affect, tiny as it may be, an affect on Earth’s orbit and rotation…

See how foolish the global warming argument really is?

I am so happy there are other people on this planet that also have a brain.

Kind'a off subject and kinda' on.... I've always wondered about the big hoopla surrounding that hole in the ozone...
Was that hole there 200 years ago? How do we know or not know? If in the last 20 years we've just gained the technology to detect this hole, that both shrinks and grows, how can we say that it's anything that hasn't been there since earths conception? Perhaps this is the cycle that leads to ice ages...

Global warming is just a way for so called educated scientists to scare the masses. Scientific data can be fabricated into any sort of result if it suits the scientist, aka the fabricator. These global warming shouting tree huggers are really getting on my nerves. I need to go for a drive............ Where's the sawzall, the cats are coming off tonight!

Yeah,
scientific research revealed that the hole in the ozone layer was actually getting smaller...yeah. Scare tactics from the environmentalists. Funny, no one talks about the ozone layer anymore, huh? The same with global warming...the planet goes through cycles. It doesn't take much of a brain to figure that out...

So many people believe that Global Warming is caused by our actions on this earth.
Think of it this way.

Take a cold room and put one person in it. The temperature probably will remain cold.

Now, put 5 Billion people in it. Think the temperature will remain the same???
Not too likely.

So, my conclusion is this.

When the last Ice Age was happening, there were very few people on this earth.

Now there are Billions of people on the earth. Our cumulative body temperature is the cause of Global Warming.

DAMN WARM BLOODED MAMMALS!

I've heard everything from Cows Burping, to the burning oil fields during the gulf war, to the sunami that altered the rotation of the earth is causing global warming.

Personally, I don't care what the cause, or in fact I honestly doubt there is a problem. I don't want to say the earth is alive, but it has its cycles. Its simply going through another cycle.
