"Gee thanks Mr Washington....wow $100 bucks just for me?....wow that's great"

Anytime the gov't "gives" you money....just remember their only returning a portion of what they just took from you.
They DONT HAVE TO give it back is my point. How many people you ever hear whining about a tax return? I dont hear many, most are actually happy to get SOMETHING back. I pay taxes just like the next guy, its a part of life, if I can get even a little back out of the ordinary I may think to myself that its a crock but I sure as hell am not going to cry about it all over the internet.

This is kind of like a tax refund. I have done tax returns for people for almost 40 years. Some people get so excited about a refund. They can not grasp the fact that they over paid, it was their money all along. They think they have a gift or something. One woman was so bad, back when I was in public accounting, that I had her pay extra just to insure a refund. It made her that happy.

I have not had a tax return since I was 16 working at a pizza joint, that was my first and only tax return. So, hell yeah, I would be pleased with something from the gubbiment. Not that I would be overly ecstatic about it but would probably be in shock to have that check in hand.

Its the mindset that is dangerous.

Give back ...free...a sense of gratitude....etc.

It our money, not theirs.

And I believe the post was to bring to light the fact that the $100 is a token to make us think they care or are doing something yet the fact is they aren't making sweeping policy changes that actually could do some good because they don't know how to fix it or are scared to.

I gladly took the $600 tax refund from Bush's tax cut years ago but that accompanied a long term tax cut and was just a retroactive tax reduction.

This is nothing more than a gov't handout to everyone to make us think they care. They don't...and I don't buy it.

Not trying to start a war but it seems kind of asanine that someone would so openly b!tch about something being givin to them, especially concerning gas.
Yeah I'll take it, but think about the millions of $100 checks that go out for this temporary instant "relief" campaign. Use that same $2,3,4, whatever million and dump it into alternative fuel research and development. At least that way we would be making some progress into a PERMANENT solution.

I forgot to think of it that way. It is our money. At least that 100 bucks won't be misapproporiated by the government, just us.

I'll fill up the truck, then I might have enough for a six pack, or at least a 40

GIVE ME BACK MY $100!!!

We do NOT need any ”alternative fuel research and development” at the moment. What we DO need at the moment is to study brain dead tree huggers and environmental wackos while we start drilling for oil right here in good ol” USA as well as tap Alaska. While doing that we can also immediately start the construction of another 500 – 1000 refineries.

That there my friends is the MAIN problem and why gas prices are so high. That and the tree huggers and environmental wackos requiring different blends of gasoline all over the country, sometimes within in the same city…

Sure the oil companies are making big bucks but SO WHAT??? So is Wal-Mart, Sears, and many other businesses like McDonalds and Burger King.

You want to lower gas prices quickly then you eliminate the stupid EPA regulations that require different blends of fuels all over the country and set ONE standard. After that you cut taxes paid on every gallon of gasoline. You pay MORE to the government per gallon of gas then you do to the oil company or the gas station owner.

The only ones SCREWING and gouging the consumer are the government (taxes) and the environmental wackos not allowing ANY TYPE of alternate fuel sources…

Why would I spend my 100 bucks on gas so I can have my tax dollars I get from the gov't taxed again? The gov't goons aren't as dumb as we think.
