Snopes.com Rant

I always see people flee to this site to discover that a story is untrue.

Really? So in fact, you are doubting something you are reading on the internet and believing something else you read on the internet?

Interesting... discuss?

Great point; and, one I've thought of many times. What makes these guys the last word? It's certainly an powerful tool for internet ****** though.

I'd rather be an Internet Pric than spread false information to serve a point.
I agree with what CrAz3D said, and if Snopes reported false information there would be sites like Snopessucks.com to tell you about it.

It also provides sources that back up their claims.

I can make up convincing sources also.

(just playing devil's advocate here)

Yeah......it's just like running to a Dictionary.

How do we know if the words are spelled correctly in a Dictionary?

Rats.......now I have a headache.

Not everyone who uses Snopes is a *****. Some people have something called tact. Ever heard of it?

Yes intelligent, thinking people do "flee" to snopes or other urban legend sites to find out what the truth really is. The facts that are posted there are then verified with second party links and sources.

I dont understand the snopes resentment. Who wants to post or email information thinking its correct when it isnt? Ignorance is bliss but information is better.

Because people treat it like it is the word of GOD.

Personally, the main reason I use the internet is entertainment.

I don't know about the it being the word of God but I prefer to know what is true vs what is urban legend.

For the record I use the Internet primarily for information....entertainment is a distant second.

Good example of Snopes in Action. There were some Sheep here @ work ( Women who believe everything they read/see on net ) Who were talking about "Air Force One" being tagged. And about how if they cant keep "Air Force One" safe how can the military keep us safe from anything. I heard this and tried to tell them the video was a fake but got told i was incorrect. So me being the nice guy I am ( I gotta prove people wrong when they are) proceeded to e-mail them all the link to snopes about this. Now they can discuss something a little less anti military

And if you can't spell the word, how the heck can you find it in the dictionary to verify the spelling??
