Stop, drop and roll, does not work when ur on fire!

a couple days ago I was at work, working by myself when my assignment for the day was to cut in half re-bay all day with a partner saw. Suppose to be no big deal so I carry on with what I had to do for the day working in the very back of the job site pretty much all by myself when I go to start cutting the Re-bar.

As I was cutting, I felt like something was bitting the hell out of bottom of my right leg since it started to hurt like hell. I look down for a heck and my damn legs on fire! My works boots and pants leg are on fire, so I threw the saw down, tried to pat it out with my hands but it grew like crazy now half way up my pants leg so I did what I thought of next, stop drop and roll, but hell that didn't do anything. I worker walking past saw me going like crazy, ran up to me and threw a bunch of dirt on the fire and eventually went out.

At that point I couldn't believe what just happened, half my pants and boots burned up. It was pretty scary at the time, but my Foreman drove me into the hospital to get checked out since my leg had some burns on it and no more leg hair, looks like a shaved my legs! lol pretty much so sum it up, I had just minor burns on my leg, and he gave me vitamin cream of some sort to put on daily until the burn heals.

it just sucked, never was on fire before. Hope to not do that again!

That's way tooooo close to his new truck!!!

Glad your OK man, Those sparks can get ya.
When I was working as a welder, about once a week or so, someone would burn thier pants or boots or both. If you're working with anything that throws sparks, make sure to keep the frays at the bottom of your pants trimmed up. That will help reduce fire.

I had a Foreman catch on fire off his own ciggarette once. Stop drop n roll didn't work for him either. It is generally accepted that Smokey the Bear was a communist prropoganda machine throught the 80's and I think he is the one that coined the phrase. We should publicize a new, "Just throw dirt!" slogan.

DUDE!!! I don't know you from anyone but it sounds like to me that your life is a trainwreck in slow motion. Please don't move to NJ... I don't want my auto insurance premiums going up. We have enough problems with the commies & liberals.

KC-10 FE out...

Wow. A thread by mittenear that contains flames, and is dirty and hot, yet there are no references to women at all. Good job. Rest that leg up, I'm sure you'll be digging your own grave soon. JK.
