math trick

Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will amuse and amaze you

1. Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your head)
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer?

Sorry to bust your bubble, but this is pretty old school. Kinda neat, yet kinda old.

What is a shoobie??? I've lived in NJ for a total of 23 years & I've never heard that term before, ever, not once. I'm not being sarcastic.

KC-10 FE out...

KC..it's been talked about lot here and 6T6CPE likes to make fun of me by calling me one. Basically the story goes.....years ago, when everyone came to the shore to visit from Philly, they came for the day and would bring their lunch in a shoe box. This term stuck with them and has evolved into Shoobie. A shoobie is now more commonly known as an out of towner and usually wears sandles with black socks.

It's actually funny, if you come down here to the shore you can see signs in peoples yards that read "Shoobie Go Home"

Talking

7 digits phonenumber

Let's name the first 3 digits X
The last 4 digits Y

Your phonenumber is the same as 10000X + Y

------
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2

2. and 3. 80X
4. 80X+1
5. 250(80X+1) equals 20000X+250
6. 20000X+250+Y
7. 20000X+250+Y+Y equals 20000X+250+2y
8. 20000X+250+2Y-250 equals 20000X+2Y
9. (20000X+2Y)/2 equals ?

10000X+Y which is equivalent to your phonenumber.
