"Construction crews with the Colorado Department of Transportation planned to build an underground bridge to cover a deep mine shaft found along Interstate 70 near Idaho Springs. The shaft runs under part of the westbound lanes and the highway's median.
Crews first thought the mine shaft was about 100 feet deep. Later, they stuck a drill down to get a better measurement and never found the bottom."
