It's a vicious cycle.

Man, middle management sucks.
This is what's been happening to me, on my last 3 good jobs.
Right now I'm a service manager at a CaseIH dealership.

1. I find a really cool job
2. I work for 6 months and make a real difference...everything's cool.
3. My retard boss starts blaming me for crap that I have no control over.
Start getting friction from every which direction. I have made a real
difference, yet it doesn't matter now
4. I get hacked off and quit trying. (The cycle begins to start over)
5. I quit the job, starting back at one.

Am I the problem, or have I not found the right job yet. This is getting really old. The shop here had the best month it has ever had.

All of your references to making a difference, are in past tense.
There are still differences that can be made but you already gave up and quit. That would cause some friction for your boss(s). Past accomplishments are always in the past, it's what your doing now that makes you valuable to the company and your boss. As long as you continue to prove valuable, then they will let you do what ever you can.

You say that you "Start getting friction from every which direction". As middle managment your boss(s) and customers are the only ones capable of giving you friction. That's only two directions... Everyone else is below you and should listen to you with out question. If anyone else besides those two are giving you slack, then for some reason you are losing thier respect. Maybe it's poor treatment lack of gratitude, or maybe it's that you are trying to be to much of thier friend.
Do something for everyone below you to boost thier moral, maybe a box of dougnuts with an extra 15 minute break one morning, or buy pizza for lunch and either way tell them it's for the good job last month or something. Just dont be thier friend. As long as they know that you are happy with them but if they mess up then you will punish them with out hesitation, then that slack is gone.
Now you have customers and boss to make happy.
Customers you can figure out, each customer is deifferent.
Boss, continue to make a positive difference in the shop, he will be happy in turn you are happy becasue he is off your back.
Some are just never happy, but if this cycle continually happens over and over again... Not likely that all of them are.

Yeah -- all of that www.despair.com stuff is freaking funny as he11! I had some up in my office before I worked out of my home and some of my bosses just didn't see the humor in it -- uptight little bastards!

I know, I've been looking at it for awhile. (Maybe this is part of the problem)

So thats where to find those. I had heard about them & thought about getting some & switching out the ones we have on the walls. Then sit back & see how long it takes people to notice (I'm the last to leave almost always so I could do it without anyone seeing me).
