Ford Shelby GT-H
Ford Shelby GT-H
I was just panning thru the ABCNEWS website, photos from the NY Auto show. There was a little snippet in there about the Shelby GT-H, and you will be able to rent them thru Hertz. WTF???? SVT dead, but you can rent a performace Mustang. Gee, that sounds really good for some reason... Way to go Ford.

With the resurection of the Shelby GT500, ford teamed with hertz again to offer the modern day equivelant of the GT350-H for people that want to rent a performance car. They didn't go with the GT500 in either case, because that is too much car for the average person, let alone someone with "renters syndrome". Its a marketing ploy for both companies and it will work nicely. Oh, and SVT isn't dead, go read today's posts in that thread.

My buddys uncle has one of the hertz gt's from back in the day. Come to think of it he may have 2. Along with about 100 other classic cars.

He has some really nice cars, most of them pre 1960.

There will be 500 built...all coupes (well except one....
)....all are automatics. They are all owned by Hertz. They will rent them (from $300 I am told!) until they have around 12,000 miles on them (expect that in about 3 months). The body mods will include new hood, grille, stripes and "Hertz" badges replacing the GT badges (the production cars will have all chrome badges were as the prototype pictured above has a chrome "HERTZ" on a black back ground.) Performance mods include performance tune, cold air intake, cat-back and X-pipe...about 50HP total. But the big difference is the cars get a 3.55 gear instead of the stock gear....and they dont just replace the gear they replace the whole rear end. Don't think these dont make a difference because these cars pull like a horse....much stronger than a stock GT (trust me I know!) Once the cars get 12,000 miles on them they will be sold through auction ONLY BACK TO FORD DEALERS to resell.
I am very good freinds with Amy Boylan (President of Shelby Automobiles) and when we went to see her Wed at Shelby they were building the GT-Hs. Want to see some pics???
This is how they come in to Shelby...stock black GTs.
