Another iPod question

How do I get videos I downloaded onto the 'pod? I downloaded one from here, and it downloaded in a .zip file with a couple m4u file extensions, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get them onto the stupid iPod.

Have you put the m4u files into iTunes? After you do that, it should show under "Videos", then with the next sync of the iPod, it should go on there. If it doesn't then, make sure that you have the sync'ing of videos enabled, which can be done by looking under iPod Preferences, when you have the iPod plugged in: Edit, Preferences, iPod Tab (only active when the iPod is attached).

Hope that helps.

No problem. I really want a video iPod now, though.

I see what all the hype is now. The iPod is sick, this'll make those trips to Texas a billion times easier when I ain't driving.

I've got an "old' 4th-gen iPod (no color screen, but better than the 3rd and previous gens) and it serves it's purpose...but the thinness of that new iPod is pretty nifty. And the Nano, that's just slick! No moving parts since it's flash-memory based. THAT I may have to pick up since I get a discount through school.

Okay 'nother question for anyone in the know: Can I take DVDs that I got and load them into the iPod? (emphasis on "I got" - I ain't out to rip anyone off of movies I don't own).

Sure you can. You'll have to rip the DVD as a .avi file with some program or another, then convert the videos to iPod format before you can play them. There are also lots of programs to do this.

Guys, it's even easier than that! The iTunes versions that support video can convert them for you! They have incorporated that feature from the Quicktime version that you usually have to pay for, for free. Kudos to Apple to make it easy to use the video iPod.

Quintin,

I don't know the exact procedure for doing this, but I suspect you can find it at apple.com somewhere.

Yeah its just as simple as putting the videos into Itunes and then just sending them to your ipod. Its as easy as 1.2.3...
