So, is there any word that Ford might produce any of the concepts or are they just showing us what they could do if they weren't a hurting company.

How much emphasis was there on better fuel economy? Any hybrids for our near future? Any small(er) displacement, big power engines to come? Any new force fed engines?

There were a number of hybrid vehicles there, GM had all their Green/Yellow vehicles there for ethanol, and the area with the 2nd largest crowd (behind the LS460 L) was for the new Camaro, that also touts what is essentially displacement on demand- which allows 4 of the 8 cylinders to be shut down when the vehicle is cruising at highway speed.

GM will offer this on all their vehicles equipped with the 5.3L V-8; including the Silverado. This should help the highway mileage considerably, unless you live in hill country, as the 4 cylinders only shut down when cruising, the instant you touch the accellerator, the other 4 come to life.

Hybrids are a novel thought at this point, but at their price premium of an average of $7,000 over the other models, according to Motor Trend, to realize the savings, you'd have to drive anywhere from 200,000 - 300,000 miles to realize the monetary benefit at the pump.

I tell you what; the pictures of the "Super Cheif" don't do it any justice... That SOB is MASSIVE.

Hersh,

What's that first car in post #4? I can tell it's a Saturn, but what model is that? It looks sweet though.

How long would you say the Super Chief ? It is a Screw, for sure, but how long is that "bed" on it?

That Super Chief is a beast. I went to a Toby Keith concert at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo last money and he drove that truck out to the stage. That thing is huge. It makes Toby Keith look small, and he is pretty big guy.

That's the new Saturn Aura. It is a VERY sweet lookign car. I thought it was a new design, but when I saw it in person, I can see it's a better-looking Pontiac G6 sedan.

That superchief is easily a foot longer or more, than a Ford Excursion. If the bed isn't 9 feet long, I've been lying to my girlfriend. That's the largest, passenger truck I have ever seen. Even in it's "cropped" styling, the truck is easily 6'4" tall, or taller, those wheels are like steam rollers. Very impressive truck, that Ford will never build; but if they did, I guarantee you if it was under $70,000; they'd sell a ton of them in Texas.
