New Owner...Warranty Question

Well, I would like to be the first to welcome myself to this forum. Not because I am conceited, but because I am so excited to be the new owner of an 05 Screw 4x4. FINALLY!!!

Anyways, I have a couple of quick warranty questions for you experienced guys. I found an amazing deal on this truck which only has 6,000 miles on it. Additionally I found out that the owner paid for an ESP (Premim Care Warranty?) which is supposed to be good for 75k miles. I called the original dealership and their finance mgr. said I could have the ESP transfered to my name with a signed letter from the original owner and $50 for a document fee. $50 sucks, but for 75k mile warranty, I will take it! My question is this...does this sound like a dealer specific warranty or is this the Ford ESP? If it is Ford's, can I go to ANY dealership and have it transfered or do I have to do it through the original dealership? Also, this truck has an 'Auto Butler' contract for complete detailing every 6 months. That sounds dealer specific, but I have been wrong once before. Anybody ever hear of the Auto Butler? Thanks for your warranty expertise!

Welcome fellow Texan, you are pretty close to me. Yes it sounds like the original owner purchased the Ford extended warranty plan. The $50.00 transfer fee is correct and actually a great deal. You can go to any dealer to have it transferred though, you just need the signed letter from the original owner authorizing you to have it. Good luck and welcome to the nuthouse!

Thanks for you help SAJEFFC. I am looking forward to wasting valuable time on the threads and learning all I can. So far I have only taken apart a few things on the truck and my wife is about to beat me senseless, I think.

Since you are in the SA area, do you know of any other dealers beside Jennings Anderson with the Auto Butler service?

You're very welcome and you had better buy a helmet before the mod bug hits. If the wifey is a hitter then you will need the protection! Sorry but I don't know of any other dealer that uses that service but if its only once every 6 mos and its free then its probably worth the drive.

"Quality Care" makes it sound like a Ford warranty.

IF that is the case, then any dealership should be able to transfer it.
