I don't understand why people are so hesitant to admit that our trucks are slow. They're TRUCKS, even if you have a 2wd truck (which is pushing my personal defination of what a truck is) its still a truck. They are made for hauling, towing, going places cars can't, and a few other uses none of which are going fast or handling well. That is unless you drive a lightning.

They are slow, get over it.
I dont think out trucks are slow. They have come a long way since the 80s and are super fast compared to those standards. I agree though they are still heavy trucks and I never feel the need to race a car when I am in my truck.

IMHO post stories about beating another truck in the same class not some lightweight 10+ year old car.

My truck is stock and I'm pretty sure I can beat a "regular" Eagle Talon. I might even be faster than a few other "stock" cars. For what I'm paying for my regulat cab, short bed truck it'd better be faster than something!

Well, come to think of it, my truck isn't completely stock but it's pretty close.

OK, a Lightning (Ram SRT-10, Hemi Ram, Harley Davidson F-150(sc), and to a lesser extent, Titan) are not run-of-the-mill pick-up trucks...

I'm talkign about us regular truck guys, in our 4.2L, 4.6L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.4L, 6.0L pick-up trucks from Chevy, Ford and Dodge... Most of us don't have a chance against any car with over 110 HP.

1997 Eagle Talon Esi 0-60 = 8.3

2004 F150 (5.4) 0-60 = 8.9

2004 F150 (4.6) 0-60 = 9.9

A 5.4 could take a Talon Esi if the Talon driver didn't know what he was doing. But since the OP said the Talon was turbo'd, that drops the 0-60s to the mid 6's at which point there ain't no way I'm buying an F150 taking a Talon unless of course the driver of the Talon was a complete idiot.

Is this before or after:
A) you hit the crack pipe
B) the monkeys flew out of your as$
C) pigs started whistling
D) you woke up

KC-10 FE out...

I took the Talon off the line...only time the talon got ahead was after buddy got threw the gears and the Talons turbo kicked in, and yes I stayed with the Talon..to 70 mph. so if Talon buddy was a retard or let me keep up, so be it...But I doubt it, No one likes to lose even when your just playing...

I read back in the day that a stock awd talon with a turbo put out 300 H/P, I could be wrong but the power to WT ratio in a Talon is greater....I also locked out the OD

Well that surely gave you an extra 180HP!!! Does your truck have one of those "Turbo Boost" buttons like KITT on Knight Rider? Like I said, the only way you pulled this off against a TURBO Talon was if the other guy let you, in other words, nothing to bragg about... This is almost as good a post as the one where the guy said he beat a 98'ish Chevy Camaro Z28 with his 2004 4X4 F-150. Now that was funny... He said it was his 3.73LS rear that let him beat the Z28. He swore up & down that he owned the Z28 for over a mile. I wish I could find that thread.

KC-10 FE out...

Well, the diamond star twins from the early 90's were fast in Turbo mode, but the turbo, non-AWD models were the quickest. The AWD was only faster if the road surface was wet... The extra traction could not overcome the weight penalty.

They didn't have 300 HP though- they only had about 205 - 220 HP, but in something that light and aerodynamic, it's like having 450 HP in the rolling "brick" that is our trucks...

300 HP was RARE in the early 90's... Only a handful of "reachable" cars had that kind of power: (3000 GT VR4 Twin-Turbo, Stealth RT Twin-Turbo, 300 ZX Twin-Turbo, Supra Twin-Turbo, Corvette, all of which were high 30's to low 40's; and they just got more expensive from there...) Not many, if any, other regular cars came off the lot with that kind of HP. If you had 200 HP in a car or truck, from 1987 - 1999, you were sh*tting in tall cotton...

That's about what I have.

I have been modding
Talons were somewhere in the 15's. I am faster than that.
