I agree this new one "2007" looks ugly.

I didn't mind the past models though, I liked how those looked when they were all painted "like the Limited models" but this new one trying to copy of the Explorer.

Ford it turning into Dodge. All there trucks and SUV's are looking almost the same these days.

It reminds me of the new durango. Mis-shapen, short, sloped front end, with an abnormally large cab/rear. It just seems out of proportion. I'd never buy one.

Looks like the vehicle as a whole is a little larger than the current model (?). The side sheet metal has definitely been re-worked from the current version. I'm glad I bought one new in '05 -- I like the one sitting here in my garage a whole lot more than the one in that photo.

FWIW, my wife and I have really enjoyed our Escape since we purchased it -- the perfect little SUV for what we need. We also looked at Explorers, but they seemed too big to us and had kind of that "family truckster" feel the them...

haven't you heard, brakes are now optional- you get a model without brakes and they throw in a free hood pad for when you nail a ped-- dont want to dent the hood- the white doors- well thats a precautionary measure so you look like a cruiser when you fly thru the intersections
as for the CKGP, well i like the F150 at the top of my window, but now were getting a bit excessive aren't we Ford?

They had to rework it so that they could build a tougher frame for it. The Escape has been in the basement as far as front and side impact crash testing goes. The new model is supposed to get a 5 Star rating where as before, they should have been sold with a head stone.

Ugly? Maybe a little. But if they are safer, and match the milage of...say a Rav4, then I would be much happier to buy it over a Toyota or Nissan.

Looks ok. Kind of reminds me of a Jeep Liberty with squared headlights and a longer wheelbase.

I think the Escape is still the Best Selling small SUV. Hopefully this new design will continue to draw people in to buy Them.

a few months ago, to make a long story short, my mother got a 06 Mercury Mariner Premier. She had it not to long before she traded it on an 06 Escape saying she wasn't happy with the Looks of the Mariner after all, said it had an ugly front end VS what Ford Escape had. Didn't take to big of a hit on the trade in. Now has an 06 Escape Limited 4x4 stickerd at 30K with every single option including DVD player and moon roof in it. Got it down to 23 K with A plan once again and discounts from Ford.

What I love most about the Escape having driven in them a few times is the solid feeling to them. Not one shake, nor rattle could be heard! I can see why people love this small SUV though, not to big, not to small, just right for people who like to ride up in the air some.

It's not just those two. A whole lot of brands (even Euro brands) are going to a common theme with their front ends for strong brand recognition.

I would rather have a nice looking front that is unique to the model than some ugly generic one so you can tell who the maker is of any vehicle without looking at the badge.

Glad we bought our Escape a few months ago.
