World-record bass – maybe – pulled from Lake Dixon

What a nice fish.....BUT:

Is it a record fish if you dont "catch" it?

If any fish gets close enough for me to "snag" it with the hooks on the lure, to me - I caught it, no matter what IGFA says.

Edit: The majority of those guys in Cali going after the lunkers use the big a$$ swim baits with a single hook in it. Now that has to be a feat to just snag a 25+ lb fish that wasn't going after that bait.

Cheater.

I understand what your saying, but the WORLD RECORD BASS is a pretty prestigious thing, and isn't taken lightly.

Jamz, you are doing too much thinking about fishing. Just makes it tougher to sit there!

Yep.

I might be calling in sick marrow.

A guy I work with sent me that, and he and I have been talking fishing ever since. I have that itch again, and there is only one way to cure it.

Damn right....and at the same time...I'd make some money.

Is it true or false, that if you caught the record breaking bass, you'd win a million bucks?

I heard that somewhere.

Hand scale measuring? A world record? NO CHANCE!

Pardon the pun, but this sounds fishy to me. This one may be legit and all of that, but I think it is staged because who would let the freaking world record largemouth go? I think he stuffed it, weighed it and turned it loose becasue it wasn't legit.

But thanks... I can't fish for bass until June here in Ontario, and now Im itching, thanks guys... lol.

wasn't it not to long ago a woman caught a world record bass but couldnt prove it because she let it go. There wouldn't be to many more exciting things than catching a world record bass. I wouldnt mind catching a world record trout either. Preferably a rainbow trout.

This is what Im saying. If you know you have the world record, forget the camera, head stright to you local DNR... EVERYONE would do that, if it was an honest catch and legit...

The world record rainbow... how big is that any idea?

Still sounds odd, but ESPNs article on it is a lot better and more convincing it might be legit

The world record rainbow is 42lbs. 2 oz.
The world record Brown trout is 42lbs. and 4oz. caught in the little red river which is about 2.5 hours from where I live. I've done a lot of fishing in the little red and it's pretty good trout fishing. Never caught anything close to that big before though.
