That's right! That was my number one!! Wasn't sure I should mention it though. Forget Hawaii.
Few cool things I have done that rank high on my list.
Got to meet Micheal Andretti in his transport before qualifing at a CART race at Michigan Speedway, also got a pic of him and me.
Being in the mountains in Wyoming and being higher than a thunderstorm, watching the lightining from the top.
Also a five day horse ride into the Wyoming range mountains in Wyoming, staying in cowboy tents at night and sitting around the camp fire. Very cool.
But the best experience I have had was flying in a 1943 P143 Navy trainer plane. It was a 45 min ride. We flew off the wing of another trainer plane, with less then 30 feet between wing tips for about 10 minutes.
The pilot let me fly the plane by the stick and told me to fly to my house, we were flying in an area about 10 miles from my place. I flew by following the roads basicly and was able to fly the plane directly over my house. We did a couple fly bys and left a smoke trail on the last pass at just above tree top level. Then we pulled a 360 loop and did several barrel rolls. I was starting to feel a bit green in the gut after that. We pulled about 4 Gs coming out of the loop and a bit more than 350 mph. We also did a military turn coming back on the aproach. That is where the pilot snaps the plane into a quarter spin. Man, smashed my head bigtime against the canopy when he did it.
Riding in a plane like that was just so awesome. I took the ride at a small local air show and am hoping to do it again in the near future. Something I want to experience again.

Thankfully I've got to do several "cool" things since I've been in the Army. The top 2 would have to be riding "shotgun" in an AH-64 Apache to the firing range and riding along trying to get an M1-A2 Abrams stuck in the mud. I wasn't allowed to touch anything, but both were experiences that I will never forget.
