reformatting q-

ok, my 256mb CompactFlash card effed up. cant format it from the digi-cam- it fails and give me the failed to format error msg. so ive put it into the external card reader- and its there, but doesnt show that it is- i can click the drive (E:) properties, and it lists it as a RAW file sytem 0 bytes used, 0 bytes avail. i tell it to format, and it says disk cannot be formatted- i've tried command prompt:
format e: /fs:fat but no luck- how can i get this card back up and running- if i can get it to some file type, then maybe my camera will reformat to the correct format?

Is the card locked by chance?

Other than that I got nothing.

Maybe go into computer management and see if you can creat a partition on it. I'll have to look at my 32mb CF card.....

its a fujifilm card- i've emailed them, and sandisk asking for the steps to correct failed reformatting- Sandisk lists the steps to correct this problem, but they arent for XP bases- only on lower models, and well xp uses different cmd prompts. fujifilm is willing to send me a new card if i send them mine- i'd like to try and fix it-cause all it really entails is a simple reformatting first before i send it away
