Question Need help with Power Mirrors

I have an 01 scab and my side mirrors are not working. I have checked the fuse and it is good. I took off the door panel, and checked for power through the switch to the mirror side plug and I am getting power. Is there anyway I can check the motors in the mirrors? I am not sure how to open up the mirror housing. Am I missing something? I just think it is very odd, both of my mirror motors would be dead. Please help.

When you pulled the door panel off, there is a plug about 6" below the mirror mounting in the door. Put a tester on the lower section of the plug and move the switch to check for power to there. If it's getting power there then just replace the mirrors.

If they have power then I'd say they are likely dead to, but if you want in your mirror. I had to change the covers on my brothers so I happened ot have the instructions saved as a text doc that I printed off to do it.

Exterior cover replacement
There are 4 plastic tabs on the glamor cap ( cover ).

If you move the mirror all the way to the lower left ( all the way left and down ) , you will see a tab and slot at about the 1:00 position ( maybe 12:30 ). release that tab with a long skinny screw driver.

Then repeat the move the mirror for the one at the 11:30 position, the 6:30 position and 5:30 positions. Total of 4, 2 top and 2 bottom.

Item 4: Exterior Mirror Glass Removal Note

1. Position exterior mirror glass in the full UP position.
2. Locate the notch at the bottom of the exterior mirror glass.
3. Release the exterior mirror glass.
a. Insert a long flat-bladed screwdriver in the notch.
b. Push the screwdriver into the notch until the glass is released.
4. If equipped with heated mirrors, disconnect electrical connectors from the exterior mirror glass.

Item 4: Exterior Mirror Glass Installation Note

1. If equipped with heated mirrors, connect the electrical connector to the mirrors.
2. Position the exterior mirror glass on the mirror motor.

3. CAUTION: Place a clean shop towel between hand and exterior mirror glass to prevent injury in the event of glass breakage.

Place a hand against the back of the exterior mirror housing and a hand flat against the exterior mirror glass. Press the mirror glass in place until it is fully seated.

Since you can't move it with the switch you'' have to push it side to side manually.

Thanks for the advice, I will take a look at the internals. I tried the power at the plug from the mirror and it had power there too. I did some searching and it seems this is a pretty common prob. Some folks have had serveral mirrors replaced under warrenty. I will check the motors and if they are bad, I guess it will be a trip to the junk yard for me. Thanks again

I'd put a switch on it. Kinda hard to believe that both motors failed simultaneously. The mirror switch is a common failure, the switch itself ain't but like ten or fifteen bucks tops.
