Body: watch how u act at bars
Apparently it is now legal for "undercover" officers and state officials to arrest you inside the bar for Public Intoxication.
Here is a brief story I found on NBC's website....
Police Make Public Intoxication Arrests Inside Bars Legal

IRVING, Texas -- Irving police have taken their fight against drunken driving to a new level. Irving officers and state agents targeted 36 bars and clubs Friday and arrested some allegedly intoxicated patrons before they departed the businesses.
The officers also kept watch on bartenders who might have over-served patrons.
Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents arrested 30 people Friday night. Most of the suspects now face charges of public intoxication.
The agents and Irving police officers traveled from bar to bar and worked undercover, according to an NBC 5 report.
The report also said that some agents shared tables with suspected drunken patrons. Some patrons were subjected to field sobriety tests inside bars.
Agents and officers said the operation represented an effort to reduce drunken driving.
Sgt. Chris Hamilton, of the TABC, said some inebriated bar patrons "end up killing themselves or someone else" after departing the businesses.
Also this was added by someone that works in the Dallas area...
I work at The Pour House in downtown Fort Worth and this is actually happening. TABC is out and I have seen arrest someone that has only had 3 beers. Not only are they arresting the customer but a lot of the times they are also arresting or fining the bartender or waiter / waitress that was serving them. One guy I heard of got arrested just because he was making fun of the TABC officer, they arrested him and the bartender who served him.

I saw this story on the news last night... they did end up arresting the bartender for serving patrons who were already "too" drunk.... those ladies were freaking out balling and stuff... all the way into the paddy wagon
Where do we draw the line?
I'm not a drinker, rarely go to a bar just to drink.
However this is real close to prohibiton regulation.
Speak easy's will be back again, you can mark my words.
I don't want drunks on the road anymore than anyone else, but this hurts the establishement more than drunks. What are they going to do, arrest everyone in the bar? If not then wouldn't that be discreminanation?

Great....now I gotta worry about TABC. I thought dodging bullets was more than enought to worry about while downing a few

Let's see... Patrol the border for illegals (and maybe catch some terrorists); or, hang out in the local bar and harrass drunks?
Aren't illegals a huge portion of drunk drivers in Texas anyway? Two birds with one stone.
It sounds pretty bad I agree.
I don't hang out in bars too much now but when I did..... It's kind of scary now knowing how many people leave these places and drive drunk. It was a majority of the people in the places I've been.
How about thoes of you that frequent bars. Yes, I agree it's a great time but how many people are over the legal limit before they leave? A few? Many?
I still like to have a few.... too.... many. Now I hang out with friends at there house. I get there on foot and leave there on foot, though sometimes struggling to put one foot in front of the other. There is just too much to lose to drink and drive.

I have been a regular lately at a couple of bars, while many of us got pretty drunk, there was always a driver. I wonder whether or not they took the time to assess the situations for these people before arresting them, I have had friends get WASTED before, but we always have someone sober to make sure we are ok, and that we get home... Just my 2 cents, I know a lot of ppl don't worry about a DD now-a-days, but we do
Drink responsibly
On a side note, the one bar is like 1/2 mile from home, if I didnt have a driver, I could safely crawl home

What about calling a cab?
I just can't see it being about reducing drunk drivers, that's like arresting someone standing in line at the bank becasue they look like they might be getting ready to rob it.
Good point. What if you are not driving, have no keys on your person, have a DD? You could possibly still be arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. So, don't get drunk.
But then again,
If you drink, you get drunk, if you get drunk, you could pass out, if you pass out, you can't hurt anyone.
So what's the problem?
