GATV Greatest country of all time vote

Are you kidding me?!? I just got this email so I follow the link.

Here is the first question.

Greatest Country Song of All Time.

The finalists are

1. “Coal Miner’s Daughter" Loretta Lynn - Ok I'll accept this on the list
2. "He Stopped Loving Her Today" George Jones - Definitely great
3. "Friends in Low Places" Garth Brooks - uh oh...:o
4. "How Do You Like Me Now?!" Toby Keith - say it aint so
5. "Live Like You Were Dying" Tim McGraw - wait they said country right?

I'm gonna go through it just to torture myself.

My top 5 might have 1 & 2 but 3 - 5 arent even on the good list of songs.

Here's the link for those who wish to torture themselves as well

They pulled the same BS in Country Music Weekly. Sad; just sad.

I can see why #1 is on the list.

I'll begrudgingly give #2 a pass, even though I despise GJ songs! What the heck does everyone see in that song -- it's almost unlistenable to me!

Garth Brooks at #3 is probably the most over-rated country artist of all time! Yuck!

Toby is definitely a "star", but to include this song at #4 on a list of the "All Time Greats" is a MAJOR stretch!

#5 -- At least they didn't include one of the lame-a$$ duets he does with his wife every few months! There is no way Tim McGraw should get within sniffing distance of this list!

I agree Vader. Although I've never heard the Tim McGraw song, IMO any song considered for the "Greatest Country of all time" should be something that had stood the test of time and is still played and thought of as a great song. Some of the newer stuff, while perfectly acceptable music, will fade over time, never to be heard again. Besides there are so many, many more great songs out there.

"I'm So Lonesome I Could Die-Hank Williams"

Too bad it's I'm so Lonesome I could Cry" by Hank...lol
THis one definetely makes the list.

While I like songs 3-5, I dont think they come near the top. How about George Strait, Johnny Cash, Vern Gosdin, or even Waylon Jennings? They've got some good stuff that ranks up there....too many good songs to form a "top 5" IMO

I agree with Alabama being the #1 group of all time, hands down they're my favorite.

I agree with the too many to make a top 5...it would dang near kill me to try and do so.

I totally diagree with Alabama being the #1 group of all time. They've had some good songs but I cant stand them for the most part.

But hey to each their own.
