I guess it depends on where you do your "work" in the backseat or in the truck bed.

Yeah! If there's any shakin' or rockin' in this truck, that's what the backseat is being used for.......now what the hell did I do with that bottle of little blue pills

That's exactly why I'm going to be building a flatbed for my '95 Beater150. Well, not really, but it will have a flatbed.

It was funny....I was 4-wheeling one day and came across a guy who had a similar truck to mine; except it had a flatbed. I was jealous of his flatbed and he was jealous of my 8' bed and lesser damaged ride.

Question Overcompensation

Why settle for one (8' bed) or the other (seating for 6)? I got both!

I just rest the 4x8 sheet of plywood, sheet rock, or what ever on top of the tailgate.

I drive 60-80mph and it has never blown out...

I say ignore em.

EDIT - Well then there is UC
I can haul an 8' sheet of plywood and 5 passengers.

Not that I've ever hauled any plywood but the 8' bed has come in very handy with all our moving around the country!! On the other hand it makes the truck so long I sometimes wonder if the rear bumper is, perhaps, in a different time zone than I am!.

Does that mean my **** is bigger than your ****?? I didn't even know I had a ****. . .I don't see how that can be possible, I've never had one before But seriously, I've never been one to look down on you bedlength-challenged folks out there. I didn't go shopping for the 8 footer, it's just the truck on the lot that I liked best and it happened to have the 8' bed.

My cousin has one of those. He uses it for work every day though. Gets like 9mpg with diesel and what a PITA driving and parking with that long wheelbase.
I have the 5.5'bed and works just fine for me,I don't use it for work and I enjoy the MUCH better weight distribution over the 8'reg cabs I had in the past. Besides, I have a 1 ton extended Ford cargo van that will carry anything.

I can transport two people comfortably and three uncomfortably. I can get a 4X8 sheet in the bed with the tail gate down, if I have to.

I got this truck mainly to haul a$$, which it does pretty well.

The E250 that I drive for work is loaded up. I can get 4X8's in there and have all my tools and materials. I drive this thing more than any other vehicle. I have to hear all the stuff out back ratteling around every time I drive. It's extremely annoying. It's nice to get into my completely empty F150 and hear only the sweet music the exhaust and blower make. No ratteling, and much better throttle response.

well a backseat is room for two if you want to be packed in, but in an 8ft bed (w/air mattress) no body is going to be cramped, plus southern girls like that "under the stars" thing

Home depot will rent you a truck to take your plywood home in anyway the two times in your life that the typical owner does that. We're not all building contractors, you know.

I knew someone who bought a large SUV with the rationalization that "we might need to bring a large TV home sometime"

It's not the size of the bed but how you use it, silly boys. I haven't had to haul any plywood or sheetrock but I have hauled a bed load
of dirt, rocks & 1/4 cow (not at the same time of coarse).

Bed load of dirt:

1/4 cow (was supposed to be 1/2 cow but my sister ended up being able to go up with her truck anyway):

Then when they say something stupid like: "It's just me." or "I don't need to carry 5-6 people." Ask them, "Do all 8 foot bed losers not have any family or friends?"
I like it when rocks fall off flatbeds and hit people's stuff. It's like they're too stupid to know there aren't any sides to contain the debris.
