tax forms info... ?

I have a savings account with my bank that I just opened last year. I was under the impression that I should have received something similar to a W2 or a W2 for the earned interest.

I need to get this figured out, so I can file. What do I need to ask for?

thanks...

Assuming you have a generic savings account that earned interest in calendar year 2005, you should have received a Form 1099-INT. Just call your bank and let them know you didn't receive one and they'll send out a copy.

If you don't have a 1099 you can still file as long as you have the last statement of the year & it has the year-to-date interest listed. Some places will not send a 1099 unless the amount is over a certain amount (say $100).
