cop shoots driver.

check out the video. video is ok but, rest of site may not be work safe.

It is definitely justified but the father saying he didn't have to die is BS. the guy was trying to kill the cop and would have if he wasn't shot.

Bakers dad says he dont care what the video shows, his son didn't have to die. Bakers family may now file a law suit.

WTF
He pulled a gun during a struggle, shot it at someone, missed, struggled some more and pointed it at the guy again... (That somneone just happened to be a COP during a routine traffic stop, so he knew that he was carrying too.) Yet some how the moron didn't have to die????

Umm yea... He may not of had to of died.... but the idiot choose to die.

Can't help stupidity.

We have that happen about once a year here in houston... some punk kid pulls a gun, and a cop kills him...."but it's the police officers fault" because he was just a kid....

Kinda' funny that things like this are allowed to happen. The guy had a gun, fired once near the troopers head, after a full minute of struggling, the trooper shoots perp, and perps family wants to sue? Yeah, I guess the blindfold over Lady Justice's eyes means a little something different to everyone...

I'm going to be sick of that kids parents win the law suite. The officer was in a life/death situation, the kid had a gun! That's disgusting our society has gone to hell in a handbasket.

I'm sure the guys's parents are dirtbags as well that live off of the system and now just have another opportunity to try and exploit it. The officer's action were completely justified and commendable in showing the restraint that he did.

I think one to the head at point blank range is sufficient.

Man, some cops would have pulled and fired a lot earlier than that. I'm sure the cop could have shot him in the shoulder or something, but it was pretty obvious the kid wasn't gonna give up. You just can't take the chance that a non leathel shot is gonna stop him.

Justified.

Sorry ViperG, we only shoot with the intent to kill. Non lethal is not an option....

Well, if that's the case there's absolutely no doubt that he did the right thing. He had no choice but to pull his weapon and fire it.

We don't shoot to kill, we shoot to stop the threat. We are taught the most effective way to do that is to shoot the suspect in the upper torso (chest). If that doesn't stop the threat, we are trained to shoot the head. Of course the odds of surviving a head shot are minimal.

Wandell used a better choice of words than I, but yes, it's to stop the threat. What I was trying to state was we don't purposely aim for arms, legs, hands, or if you're really good, shot the gun out of his hand like all TV cops....

I'm just glad we don't have another RIP cop thread.

At the end of the video you can tell the cop is shook up....almost looks like he puts a rag to the punk's wound....good riddance
