And anyone else interested in Texas poets and Americana music. Ray Wylie Hubbard now has a spot in MyPlace. The main reason I am telling you about this is that he has 3 of his songs there for listening. Give a listen. The song, "Screw You, We Are from Texas" was written one night in a club in Corpus Christi. The band was playing and a group of obnoxious, drunk yuppies kept requesting Top 40 hits by Garth, McGraw and others. Ray told them they did their own material but they just kept yelling for the requests. The band took a break and came back with that song.

With a little luck, might even educate Jamzwayne to some good music.

Good find....

He doesnt have the traditional banjo/steel guitar/fiddle that stirs my inards but he is very good from the songs I've heard...and I like it for a change of pace.

I love it when my name is in a thread title.

I'll give it a listen when I have a better opportunity; I try and keep my music quite at work and I can't really appreciate a new song that way.

Concerts on my schedule in next 4 months:
Hal Ketchum
Dwight Yoakam
Tracy Lawrence
Blackhawk
Little Texas
Hot Apple Pie

Hal Ketchum and Dwight Yoakum both put on fantastic shows. Vader, on Ray's cds and in live concerts he plays a lot of resonator guitar, emplying the bottle neck slide. He can sounds like 2 or 3 instruments at one time and it really has a great sound. If you go to his web site, the song he is playing on it emplyess the resonator. I love that sound.

ddellwo, sorry I misspelled your name. Wanted to make sure you saw this. If you check Ray's space, also check out Jack Ingram's and db's. They have some good music on myspace sites.

Hey Bluejay -- the server at work finally came back up and I got to listen to those tunes! I was surprised at how "bluesy" they were -- kind of reminded me of a "Texified" George Thorogood or something thereabouts (?).

I didn't realize the db's were still around? Are we talking the same band with Peter Holsapple in it? They received alot of radio airplay at our college station back in the '80's, if it's the same band. I thought they broke up years ago....

Sounds like UC has got a lot of great concerts coming to town. I'd really like to see Dwight -- a couple of summer's back the wife and I took a long weekend out to Lake Tahoe and he was playing at one of the casino's in town. She refused to go, telling me we didn't travel to Lake Tahoe to sit in a casino and listen to music! It was beautiful and all up there, but I still would have liked to have seen Dwight for an evening!

I kinda like it. I definitely think that I could drink a beer or two while listening to it. Another band that ya'll might like is Mickey and the Motorcars. They come play at one of the local bars every once in a while, that's where I first heard them. Now, every time they come to town I call in sick the next day. Also I am a big Pat Green fan, if you have not heard him yet I would recommend giving him a listen.

I have heard about Mickey but not heard his music. I will try to find some. I like Pat Green pretty good, some of his stuff is real good. I followed him in the Colonial Pro-AM golf tourey a bout 4 years ago. He had a bigger crowd following him than any of the pros. He is a nut.

I think that occasionally they play Mickey on KHYI, my favorite radio station. Maybe I will hear him pretty soon.

Micky and the Motorcars rock! I have their Aint In it for the Money CD.
Can't forget Randy Rogers band.

Right now I'm listening to Jack Ingram's newest Live CD....I got it straight from Showdog Nashville.

I like Randy Rogers Band, kind of reminds me of Steve Earle. If you listen to ray Wylie do Dallas After Midnite on that myspace site, that is Jack Ingram singing with him. They are friends.

Randy Rogers is great,, we saw them this past weekend..

I like the (pre-nashville) Pat Green... His new stuff just isn't as good as all of his older stuff.

also Try...Reckless Kelly, Blue Edmonson, Kevin Fowler, and for some funny stuff check out Doug Moreland.. he'll make you laugh your *** off.

Don't Touch My Willie!!

I was so pleased last summer...I was on a trip down to Ft. Lauderdale and we were on a snorkel adventure and the boat crew was playing Fowler's CD....Made the afternoon that much more fun.
