$300 for a '91 Toyota Celica...what do you all think?

My buddy here at school has a 91 5 speed Toyota Celica with 200,000+ miles, he makes a trip from KC to STL about once a month, runs good, but the car is showing some age of course. Body is pretty straight overall.
He wants $300 bucks for it...what could a decent running little car like this bring? Anyone ever own one?

We had an 87 toyo cressida,, it was a damn reliable car.. we put 260k+ before we sold it a couple years back..... I'd get it for 300... fix it up ... and sell it for a grand+ cost of parts

If it runs and is still reliable and you can reasonably expect to get 10,000+ more miles out of it, $300 is a great buy, IMO. Not a strong market for cars with 200,000+ miles, but if you need cheap transportation you would be hard pressed to find anything better for less.

I had an 85' Celica GTS, 22RE with a 5 speed and upgraded to an 85 Supra with an automatic. The GT was much more responsive and quicker off the line, the Supra had a better top end, both would take you to 100 with little effort, but I just liked the GT better overall.

We've owned plenty of $300-500 "throw-away" cars for commuting, the only way to go. I'd buy it

A guy walks into a parts store, and asks, "Can I get a Gas Cap for a 91 Celica?" To which the parts man replies, "That seems like a fair trade."

I'd buy it.
