RIP CHP Officer Earl Scott
RIP CHP Officer Earl Scott
I just got home from college, the motorcade in memory of this fallen officer was passing me in the other lane. The lane next to me was blocked off for the motorcade. The local radio station requested those listening to turn on their lights in memory, I saw husbands and wives with tears in their eyes who didn't even know him passing me by, the songs the station played and driving next to the motorcade (thousands of police units) had me tearing up. My next door neighbor was Earl Scott's partner. Earl Scott was shot and killed on the 17th when he stopped a car on the interstate. For some reason Greg (neighbor) took the day off or he would have been by Scott's side that night. They work 40 hours a week with eachother and now he's just gone as he puts it. I talked to Greg about it a few days after it happened, there is just nothing you nor anyone else can say to ease the pain on those who knew him. I find the pain contagious, you can't help but feel the loss yourself. I can't express how touching the outpour of gratitude from the community is, it's remarkable to see so many people standing by the motorcade for one officer, clutching signs in his memory. If any of you are religious, a prayer tonight for Earl Scott couldn't hurt. He was often at Greg's house, unfortunately I never had the pleasure. I created a small image below to use as my desktop.
Rest in peace Officer Scott.

It's good to hear he was given a true hero's funeral! This casts light on the true dangers assosciated with this job and the selfless men and women who perform it.
