Did anyone see this movie yet? It looks really good and was inspired by a true story. I want to see it. Hmmmmm, I wonder if sleddogg saw it.

I have seen the previews. It does look good.
I can relate to the bond. I loved it when I use to run dogs. I loved all the boys in my pack.
I have been thinking of getting back into it now that the kids are growing up and out.
I loved running the trails with my team on those cold winter mornings.
Problem is here is we dont get the snow like we use to, so I would have to travel a bit to have some good sledding, but I did love it.

So this would be a good movie for you to see.

Sounds interesting. Why did you stop?

I was thinking I wanted to see it.

Stop because of wife, kids, money or lack of. Me and a buddy ran a couple sleds together. We shared the teams, had anywhere from 12 to 16 huskies in a pac. Feeding that many dogs can get a little exspensive. They didnt eat just kibbles and bits.
Then I moved and space was a problem too, need some room for that many dogs.
Now that I have all this land and room I was thinking of getting 6 or 8 dogs and working back into it.

Awww....must have been sad to let them go. I understand the closeness you can have with a dog.

It was tough, I really loved the bond and the thrill of riding.

My bud took over the care first then we both kind of slowly got out of it.

We didnt sell them all at once, but it was hard to get rid of them.
A couple I was really close to and that was tough. Most we sold to other mushers so you knew they were going to good homes and would keep pulling.
Dont care what the PETA a-holes say, these dogs were very well cared for and loved to pull as much as I loved doing it.

We've owned a couple huskies. They are great dogs is you have the will and time to work with them. I've never been around sledding or anything though. Our current husky pulls REALLY hard. It's almost like you're crushing his spirit when you tell him to stop. I ran him a couple times hooked up to my mountain bike. He LOVED it, but he got sore afterwards and would tell me about it in the middle of the night. So, I quit that. Snow's a lot softer surface. He's one of the best dogs I've ever seen.

Our previous husky was a bit aloof and was harder to handle. He was obedient to a point and untill he got out of the house. Then all bets were off. We weren't going to get another but we ran across this one by accident and fell in love with him.

Nanook

Nanook and Diablo as a puppy

My two boys now

Just an FYI for anyone thinking about a husky. Unless you've got time and patience to work with them, there's better "pet" breeds. Most Huskies (I've seen) are freedom loving dogs to say the least. Not to mention the shed like crazy.
