TrailBlazer SS

Well, I had to do it......

My company's main client is General Motors. I get a car allowance if I drive a GM car. When I hired in a little over a year ago, I had a 94 Jimmy in my name, but my daughter was driving it. I have a 97 F150 5.4L that I bought in 99 with 24K on it. It now has 213K on it. The Jimmy finally died at 210K, and some guy offered $400 for it. I sold it. Work found out that I no longer have the Jimmy, and am driving the F150 daily. I had to buy a new vehicle, so I picked the Trailblazer SS. I am keeping the F150 because there is nothing wrong with it. I will keep my account here because I have gotten a lot of good info from it, and expect to get at least 300K out of the F150. I did join www.trailbazerss.com. It looks very similar to this site, and should give me good info on the 6.0 LS2 in the TBSS.

My family has had good experience with them, but they get horrible gas mileage. I figured as long a I had to live with crappy mileage, might as well have 400HP.

I almost traded the Lightning for one. Then I came to my senses. I've put way too much money into it to ever let it go. Sweet ride.

Thanks. I'll keep the F150 as a backup just in case. My parents have a place in Florida (they are in their 70s) for the winter. My mom was trying to talk me into "giving" them the F150 for their Florida place so they don't have to drive down and back to Michigan. My grandson (13) also wants it for his first car. The owner of the Chevy dealership (friend I went to High School with) that I got the TBSS from was trying to buy it off me. Seems like everyone is trying to get my truck from me.......heh. It is a Reg Cab Flareside with the O/R package. It sits so high up, I don't even think my parents could get in and out of it.

In a time when vehicles win comparisons based on which has the best graining on the plastics used for the interior, I couldn't care less about someone elses opinion on the vehicles I choose to purchase, based on MY needs and desires. Tell me a vehicle that provides the TBSS with competition, which matches up in performance and aftermarket products availability. It has no peers in my opinion. It costs much less than anything that even comes close, as well. They said drink the Kool-Aid, not inject it directly into your veins.

FWIW -- I *really* like the looks of the TBSS but, after my past experiences with a certain 1997 Blazer LT -- well, I won't be buying another GM product.

I'll sum that experience up with this -- I owned it for four months, it was in the shop three of those four.

I get the displeasure of working with the TrailBlazer's Isuzu cousin, the Ascender. I have a severe adversion towards almost anything GM builds nowadays. But I kinda like the looks of the TrailBlazer SS. Good luck with it...and where's our pics?

I just picked it up yesterday. The wife an I spent the day driving it around to get acquainted with it. I gotta tell you guys, it is definately one FAST puppy. We picked it up at noon.....by 10PM we were finally back in the driveway. My wife really likes it a lot. My truck is a 1997, the TBSS is a 2006. There have been a lot of technology changes since 1997. I'll get some pictures a post them when I get the chance to clean off the salt.

BTW, It was -5 degrees here last night. My wife was surprised, but the $40K+ TBSS spent the night OUTSIDE the garage. My 1997 F150 with 212K on the odometer stayed inside. (She wouldn't give up her spot either)......

Before everyone starts in on that last message.....She wouldn't give up her car's spot IN THE GARAGE for the TBSS.
