good for offroad?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...DME:L:RTQ:US:1

I was looking at buying this for an offroad project. I don't want to put my 2wd through mud anymore since it is my DD. I am looking for an older truck with a v8 for under $800 and this looks like it may be the one. I hear these older trucks are a lot easier to work on so maybe this is what I am looking for. I just want some type of input on this truck before I put in a bid.

i had a 77 ramcharger and a 79 power wagon. 318 is a dog but with an open exahust and better breathing intake won't be bad. both vehicles were littered with electrical gremlins (like any chrysler product of that era). the steering boxes are prone to leak (did on both vehicles). suspension is rock solid. i beat the snot out of both of them and they never broke. too many gremlins forced me to get rid of both of them. they were beasts.

First, I would not buy from a person with no feedback.

Second, you'll get what you pay for.

Third, "project" vehicles are a blast. Buy something that you're not going to not be embarrassed to drive, and not worry about getting a little crazy in too.

My $.02 anyway. (Keep the change.)

My idea offroad truck would actually be a Ranger. It is small enough for tighter trails and can still handle the beating.

Anything with a 6" body lift is a no-go in my book.

My off-road toy is an 89 Ranger Ext cab with a 3" body lift and 31" rubber. I have beat the snot out of this truck and it will go just about anywhere.

A Toyota would be a fun off-road truck. A lot of cheap parts for them, and they do quite well off road with a few simple mods. Buggy springs for the rear would get a Toyota flexing nicely.
