PWC Help:

I've been debating wether or not to get another 4-wheeler or a jet ski for some time. I've finally made the choice that I want a jet ski. Im not sure if Im going to get a used one or a brand new one, depends. I want something fast, problem free for the most part, and seats UP to 2. Can someone point me in the right direction? Things you would stay away from? Im all ears!

THUMP...I would seriously look into a used one. The new ones are so darn expensive, and if you look around, you canget some pretty good deals on one thats 1 or 2 years old. A lot of guys trade up every year or two. Ihave a customer who has 2 boats, and 2 jetskis..he calls the jetskis "throwaway toys". So every 2 years he sells them dirt cheap and gets 2 new ones.

If it were me, my preference is SEADOO, then Yamaha and then Kawasaki.

2 stroke...4 stroke...thats up to you. Pros and cons on each...But 4 stroke is deff. the future.

Let me know if you find anything and need any info on it, I'll help if I can.

Those Honda 4 strokes are AWESOME!
And my friend's dad just bought a 4 stroke yamaha. It's pretty sweet too.
Whatever you buy I would get a 4 stroke. Less problems, less noise, less maintainance, and better on gas.

I would go with a yamaha. The new Fx-140 will fly. But they are spendy. I know Sea-Doo makes a 220 hp Supercharged one that will litterally kill a person.

An older yamaha 1200 will also fly.

Hondas are pretty nice also. Plus they have a great name. They just dont seem to be that popular around here. The new R-12 (1235cc) is pretty sweet. But with a price tag of just over $10,000 its way more than I want to spend on a weekend water toy.

all depends on your price range... i bought a 2000 seadoo GTX with the 981cc in it... 3 seater. topped that SOB out at 70 on the lake. i got it for a steal too... $4000 with the trailer. it had 23 hours on it when i bought it! the 2 strokes arent bad, the oil is just one more thing you have to carry with you. i think we went through a gallon over the period of a weekend of non stop riding... so its not too bad. 4 strokes are nice as crap, but they're pricy. seadoo and yamaha make great ski's, i dont know much about the hondas, but definately stay away from polaris. here's my little bro on mine...

Sit downs are for sissies.

Here is the one that I picked up last week.

Noticeably Used.
It is 2 stroke, 433 CC, bored .30 over, Perfomance Marienar tuneable exhaust, quick steer, new SS impeller, Completely rebuilt/built engine and complete drive two years ago. Should be fun I can't wait til it warms up.

Battery was dead so I didn't even hear it run before I bought it. I brought it home friday night, it was raining saturday. So sunday I finally get to start it. Middle of winter, unchoked and it fired up instantly and it is very loud!

Yea I almost feel bad..... ALMOST.

It is in really good shape especialy for the year.
All I have to do is buy some oil mix and a maybe battery.

The bottom of the hull is lightly scratched probably from being beached or when he hauled it in the back of his Pick-Up before he got the trailer. Very superficial gel coat scratches, nothing major. Starboard Bow top side, there is an obvious attempt to repair a stress crack. Common problem does not affect the craft at all. But I will sand/cut the attempted repair out and scab in a 1/4" aluminum sliver of a plate then fiberglass over it and re-gel it. Stronger than new and no one will ever know. (minus maybe if someone is taking the engine out they "might" notice it.)
Now I am trying to decide on a theme and design some graphics for it.

Brew,
How much could you get my wife on one of those RXT's for?
Or do you deal in SeaDoo?

The 3DDI looks interesting too.

Stand ups are fun but are more fun in the ocean. Im keeping mine strictly fresh water and I want to able to bring my girl out with me too so that rules out a stand up. I need to sell the rest of my dirtbikes and keep my eye out in the PWC Trader.

Will these things last for a long time if they are taken care of? about how many hours should I stay away from when buying used?

PSS----I'm not a jetski dealer at all. But if you're serious, go to the boat shows. The factories always give more incentives for the shows. I can say, that most of the deals are not just gimmicks..for the most part.

THUMP----Yes, they will last a long time if well cared for and maintenanced properly. As far as how many hours to stay away from on a used ski...well, you really need to look at it and see , once again, how it looks and how it was cared for. You can beat the living hell out of one in about 25 hours and it wouldn't be worth $1000 in my book. But, well cared for machines with a lot of hours is not bad at all. It all depends on how it looks and runs. It's easy to tell if they've been beat on. You will know as soon as you lift the seat and look at the engine.

Yea mines fresh water too.
I was actually wanting a sit down so wife and daughters could ride.
But I came across that one for a good deal and couldn't pass it up.
I am going to get a 3 seater for the wife and two kids I'm sure I'll ride it too some. I see myself getting physically wore out on the stand up.
I am going to take it to the ocean once this summer when I go visit my brother stationed in NC. 20 mins from the beach. I've never seen the ocean, so I want to see it, ride it, drive it, ski it, knee board it, try to surf it, swim it. I'll have to rent a boat for a few hours once I'm there, I'm not even going to try to put mine on it.
