Where would you go???

If you guys were in a position to just pick up and move, where would you go AND why would you go there? Rules are, this has to be realistic...you need to find a job and an affordable place to live...

I'm still thinking, where I would go.....

I Personally Went To Colorado For My Grandparents 50th Anniversary... And Determined Its The Most Beutiful Sites Ever... Im A Mountain Man At Heart And I Jsut Loved How You Could Build A Cabin Oout There And Not Have To Worry About Any Neighbors Or Anything.... But I Wouldnt Be Picky About It As Long As It Was In The Mountains And Anway From Civilzation....

Man, you are a never ending supply.

'Whole' - entire, full, total
'Hole' - an opening, aperture, cavity, the excavated habitation of an animal.

Well, in keeping with the "you need to be able to make a living there" aspect of this thread (thus ruling out living in a cabin in the woods 260 miles from the nearest major metropolitan area) I would probably say:

Major Metro Area: Nashville, TN. Beautiful lay of the land, big enough city that there are plenty of job opportunities, professional sports, music, nice balance between winter and summer weather.

Minor Metro Area: Tulsa, OK - Springfield, MO area. I have traveled this country extensively, but have rarely been in nicer "mid-size" cities than Tulsa and/or Springfield. Decent restaurants, reasonable cost of living, picturesque area, and not more than a few hours drive to Dallas or Kansas City in the event that you want a "big city" weekend.

I'm Independently Wealthy And Don't Need A Job: Lake of the Woods area in Northern Minnesota. Breathtakingly beautiful, and I don't mind snow and/or cold weather. Get me a nice little condo down in downtown Minneapolis for my monthly trip to the "big city" for shopping, sports, fun. Ahhhh -- to dream!

New Jersey!!! :D

My top two choices would be:

Huntington Beach, CA - My entire family lives there, and I miss them. That'd be the only reason I'd go there, besides the weather.

Warrenton, MO - Close to where I live now, but I like the country and open spaces. Is slowly developing, and I would buy 25 - 50 acres now and watch the value climb up. By major highways (I-70). Less than 1.5 hrs from the arch.

Virginia.

Because it's absolutely gorgeous.

I'd like to live in Australia, but that isn't being realistic.

I would go someplace where I wouldn't be up to my knees in goat dung.
That eliminates where I am now and Washington DC.
