I Need Help Installing Hands Free Car Kit
BREW, is this the Ford "MobileEase" setup? I'm looking at an application chart, and the only Nextel it shows that's compatible is the Blackberry 7520.
ETA too - There's also a different harness listed, called a "Molex Harness," and it's a 3W4Z-14A411-AA.

Hmmm....Quintin, what I have is a Nextel i760 phone, the Motorola NNTN4648 car kit ( pictured in PSS-MAGs post) the Motorola NNTN6027 Hang up cradle and the Ford Prep harness that I gave you the P/N of.
Its strictly a hands free set up that I was under the impression would come thru the factory car stereo speakers. It is NOT a bluetooth system.
Thanks again

Okay, lemme look over the wiring diagram and chew on this for a second. In the meantime though, try this, with the radio on, press the 3 and 6 preset buttons together until the speakers start walking around, then hit the 1 preset and see if any codes are in the radio. There probably ain't, but it's just something to try until I think of something better.
Oh yeah, which radio do you have in this thing?

The only reference I can see to the RX AUDIO + and - is a signal from the DVD player. This comes off connectors C240c (16 pin grey), pins 9 and 10 (circuits 1805, black, and 1806, red). The wire colors for these circuits match that of the add on harness, although I can't see what reason the handsfree harness would need a reference for the DVD player on/off signal, and I dunno how that's relate to the Motorola kit. Maybe the Motorola setup uses the wiring for the DVD player (whether equipped or not, I think the wiring is there regardless) that'd normally be used to transmit the audio from a DVD over the CAN network and through the car's speakers? Just throwing ideas out here, so take that for what it's worth.
I think what I'm trying to say is maybe you got the wrong hands free prep harness, or the wrong car kit. I think the car kit is trying to use the RX AUDIO lines on the car's network that'd normally be used for the DVD player (after all, they're already there) to pipe the audio from a phone call through the car's speakers. Instead of the DVD player using those circuits, the hands free kit is trying to. I saw two more hands free harnesses available for the Fivetegostyle, but I don't know the differences between them. One is 4L2Z-19A393-AA, and the other is 4L2Z-19A393-BA.
I hate to pee in your pool but I took a second look at this thread. In the original picture You have an Rx Audio + and an Rx Audio -. I think those two wires are for the speakers NOT power. The power lead is the green wire. I'm not sure what might have been damaged but any time you feed voltage into an audio circuit nothing good will happen.
BTW I wonder if that harness would work on my F150 ???

I hear ya..only thing is..the Rx Audio + lead is fused. I dont think if it were a speaker lead it would have a fuse in it????

NAH, its all good. My brother actually hooked me up with a guy who works for the company that either makes, made, or designed the Ford Mobilease system. He said he may be able to help me out. I have to call him in the morning and talk to him....But in the mean time, if you figure anything out, please let me know. I actually took the Motorola harness out of the car tonight. I dont want to chance any wrong wiring...Thanks again Quintin.
