FMC down sizing

I have heard the other day that Ford is letting around 25K people go. It was also said that Ford has more employees than customers. They also commented on there sales going down from something like 26-8 % to 18%.
What are your opinions?

they sell millions of cars per year. They don't have a million employees.

They had a 26% market share and yes now they are down to 18%.

Other things have changed, though. That 26% was when there were 10 million cars sold every year in NA. Now they have 18% of 16 million sold every year in NA.

They are probably selling more cars than they did in 1970, but their employment structure (supporting retires and health care) was based on maintain 26% of 16 million.
