2006 GMC Crew Cab - My 2 Cents
We got a new company truck yesterday. It's a 2006 GMC Crew Cab. It's got alot of the options, and the 5.3 liter Vortec. My boss is the Cheby guy, so that's why we got it.
I took it for a drive today. Now, I know I'm a Ford guy, and I wanted to be fair, so I did my best to be as objective about the whole thing as I could.
The bottom line is that it is a pile of crap compared to my 04 SuperCrew.
Honestly, it's so plastic inside. I mean, that cheap looking mid 80s Toyota pickup style plastic. It's ride was about the same as my truck, but road noise is much more pronounced. That 5.3 liter compared to my 5.4 liter is a dog. It's great off the line, but 2nd gear is weak, and really not much acceleration from 2nd thru 4th. The doors are thin, the headliner bounces (and is not secured hardly at all through the middle of the cab), and the radio is a mess.
The only things I liked were the dual climate control, and the extendable visors.
All in all, it's a real disappointment. I recently rode in a new Impala, and I was very impressed. (Maybe is was the Malibu? I'm not sure.) Anyway, it was a very nice car inside and out. I thought that maybe GM would do better in the trucks too. So far, no way. This truck sucks. Even compared to my old 89 Sierra, this thing is trash. I loved that 89.
Ford's doing it right. When is GM gonna get a clue?

Glad to hear that. BTW what gears did it have? My uncle thinks his 05 chevy with the 5.3 will take mine. Id like to run. I raced 2002 with the 5.3 and smoked him in a block. I know our trucks pull darn hard from 50-80. Little doggy at the start of second gear but once them RPM's get up there it takes off like a champ.
