Triumph TR7, anyone know about them?
The Sunbeam Tiger is a wonderful car and even a derelict mess of a basket case would be worth something. It would be hard to give a TR-7 away unless it's in great shape.
The Tiger is more comparable to a 289 or 260 Cobra than to a TR-7.
Since a complete list would be extremely lengthy, here is a partial list of older sportscars more worthy of investing your time and money into than a TR-7:
Porsche - All of 'em, including 914, 924 or 944.
Alfa Romeo - Any of 'em
Fiat - any Spyder
Saab - Sonnet, 99 Turbo. Shoot, I'd rather have a Saab 96 than a TR-7
Volvo - P1800, 540 Turbo
Mazda - any Miata or RX-7
Kharman Ghia
Almost any car with Lotus, Austin, Healey Or Jensen in the name
Datsun/Nissan - Any Z
Triumph TR-6
etc....

One of the owners' of the company that I work for has a TR-6... I was just talking to him about it this past week... he's had little to no problems with it over the past 12 years he's owned it... he drives it as a weekender' in the summers...

My dad bought a 1975 Triumph Spitfire new, I loved that car, even if I did have to contort myself into the cubby behind the seats. He sold it to my oldest brother a few years later when he bought a 71 Cougar rag-top with a 351 Cleveland. My brother subsequently lost the little Spit playing cards (putz).
Oh yes, almost forgot about the Spitfire! I don't know much about them but the seemed to hang on longer than the most of the triumphs.
While most of the European roadsters have been mentioned on this thread, I should mention I just sold my 1980 Mercedes 450SL. I only owned and drove it for 10 months before selling it last August. I really enjoyed the ride and it had plenty of get up and go but was a real pig on fuel. If I should ever buy another one it would have to be the 280SL six cyl with standard shift that gets 18+ mpg and is as fast as the 450SL with it's 4.5 liter V-8 at 10 mpg.

Hmmm...
Thanks for the info guys.
Actually the Kharman Ghia would be one of my top choices also. My mother had one or two when she was in high school. I remember she was sitting at a stop light though, and someone in a truck kindly put the rear bumper under the back seat...
