Our Troops
Our Troops
Listening to the news and just over hearing people talk has made me realize that this country has become very lacksidaismal about supporting our troops overseas. Whether you agree with the war or not, hand it to those guys who are giving their lives so that you may disagree. I am in the Navy, but as an Electronics Technician on submarines, the only thing I fight are shorts and blown fuses. The real heroes are the guys over there. So Bigtruck311, STOMPTHECHEVY, you guys are great. Sorry if I left anyone out who went over there, these are the only two I know for sure that did. So lets give it up for our troops...

In all honesty not a day, not a day goes by that I don’t think of the troops overseas, look to the sky and say “thank God we have the bravest and baddest **** men and women serving our country”
I remember when I was on the USS Midway and our captain’s slogan was “Kill a comie for mommy”
I think we need a new slogan, though not as good, but I like it anyway:
“Kill a terrorist and **** off a liberal…”

Nice thread, Lariet!!!!
Brother, I just got on and saw this.
I am a USAF AIRCRAFT (F-16) electrician so I feel your pain. I just want to say to all my brothers out there in the sand... GET MY TENT READY!!!!! My PR a$$ is on his way.
To everybody else: I know alot of you support your troops in the sand but remember that just saying " I LOVE YOU GUYS" doesn't cut it. Take the next step.
Hit SUPPORT YOU TROOPS and give them boys a little bit of love. Also hit up OPERATION HEART and support these guys. Don't just say "Because I support the troops" I have to do nothing else... F* that!!!!!
Do anything you can for our ARMY, NAVY, USAF, and MARINES that are in harms way. We appreciate every bit of it... Q
AIM HIGH, brothers.

I feel I have done a pretty fair job of supporting our Military members. I am a proud military wife for 23 years now, I have a son in the Navy and a brother-in-law in the Air Force. My father was Air Force many years ago and another brother-in-law was Navy for several years! While none are in harms way at this moment, I give thanks every day to those that are and pray they will be brought home safely.
PS-Don't forget to say a small prayer of thanks and appreciation to the spouses and families of those brave men and women. A strong family support unit is extremely important in keeping those troops in the field. I've met many, many spouses over the years and I gotta tell you, they are some of the most independent, strong, resourceful and friendly folks you'll ever want to meet; yet they are all to often forgotten when thanks are handed out.

wild-mtn-rose,
Believe me, my wife has been through some hard times without me by her side, and has done wonderful. She has to raise 3 boys (6,4,2) in 5 month chunks when I go to sea. I don't know if anything gets more difficult than that...

Contrary to what some might think after my last thread I do support the troops and there isn't a day goes by I wish I had stayed in and was over there now.
WMR--That's true about the spouses. The lack of support from my own unit when I was deployed was one of the reasons I decided to get out. She wasn't contacted once the entire time I was gone. I figured the least they could have done while I was sweating my butt off was call her and make sure she didn't need anything.
