Daughter riding bike without training wheels!

She's just over 5 years old and we finally convinced her to take her training wheels off. I had the video camera out there and once she watched herself do it with just my hand behind her (not touching) she knew that she could do it. Now I just have to teach her to turn and how to get off the bike once she is stopped. She has the brakes down but the dismount is a little rough.

That's definitely a "Chick Bike".....

Won't be long now and she'll be bringing a boy home and introducing him something like this: "Dad, I'd like you to meet my boyfriend. His name is Hersh Jr., but he sometimes goes as CIA Agent Jr.....

Cute little girl!

Well done, Dad!
I have pictures just like that in the family album.
Today is my daughters' first day on the job in the career field in which she graduated.

I too feel like I've "let go of the seat".

Yes, it is a true pink-fest at my house. Here are a couple pictures of my youngest daughter with her bike and Power Wheels. Thank goodness I now have a son to buy some blue things for.

That's cool, one of those proud dad moments

I'm still trying to convince my son to ditch the wheels. I guess I'm gonna have to do it anyway through the tears sobs and screams. It was a circus to get him to ride down the driveway using the brakes. (it's fairly steep)

Smart kid, but daredevil he's not, unless he's not thinking about it. Then I wonder how he doesn't break something all the time.

It's a proud moment when you kids take off the training wheels.

My younger son decided at 2 1/2 that he was ready to ride w/o training wheels when he saw his older brother and his friends going off of a jump on their bikes. So I took the training wheels off and he took off on his own. I couldn't believe my eyes. The only problem was he could only turn to the left. He finally figured out how to turn right though.

It only gets better! Beautiful family. Congrats. I bought my Grand daughter a bike for x-mas. She is almost 3. My grand son is 9. The time goes by so fast. Take lots of pictures.

What a sweetie! Just got done with that with my six year old last summer. Amazing how little kids can defy gravity like that! Keep the shiny side up. R81

my dad taught me by raising the wheels up as high as they would go. They would only touch the ground if the bike leaned over too much. I rode it like that for about a week before I could ride without the training wheels ever touching the ground. Then I took them off myself.

Nice family! Today it's the bike with no training wheels next thing you know you're handing over the keys to your vehicle! I think that was one of the scariest moments of parenthood, when your baby takes off down the road in a 4000+ pound machine.
