I'm sure you're aware of the issues with my truck right now...so one way or another I will be getting a new vehicle here in the next few months. My struggle is that I want both a car and a truck but cant afford both new. So do I get a new truck and an 01 or 02 GT, or do I get an 06 GT and then go find a used truck??? I'm clueless right now as to what to do. One day I want a new GT, but then the other night I seen some of the nicest Supercrew F150s sittin on the new 20's that I have ever seen and told myself...thats my new truck.

So whats a guy to do??????

I say get the 07 Shelby Cobra and buy an older F-150, like mid 90's in good condition.

I hear ya man, but the timing isnt gonna be right. Im hoping to be out of my truck and into something new here shortly. The Shelby is still over a year away. From what I hear, its gonna be mid year in 07. I personally cant wait that long to be without a new vehicle.***sigh***

Go ahead and get an early to mid 90's truck. I had a 92 Flareside a few years back. Very nice truck. I personally would rather have another of those than a new F150. Drive it for a while, and you might even be able to pay it off before the Shelby comes out. Leaving more money free for the new Shelby.

Or get an earlier truck. I drive my 75 around town, and leave the Stang in the garage. In fact just got back from Mcy D's with the old truck... Stang hasn't left the garage since work on Friday...

Since we'r talking about garage queens, here's mine:

Had her for about a year and still only have 2700 miles on it!
It's nice today, maybe I'll take her out. I try to at least get it on the road once a week.

I was in the same situation when I bought my F-150. There is no doubt I will eventually own both an F-150 and a Mustang -- it was just a matter of which one would be purchased first! For me, neither of these vehicles will be daily drivers -- just toys to have fun with on the weekends!

So my choice came down to simple economics -- they were throwing money at me to order an F-150, but demanding MSRP+ to order a Mustang that had a better than average chance of never even arriving! So it was a no brainer for me.

If I had to do it over, I kind of wish I had just kept the money in the bank for another six months and ordered an new 'Stang about now, even though I do really like my truck. It's just that the new 'Stangs are so damn sweet!

If I had to choose between "new truck and used 'Stang" or "new 'Stang and used truck" I think it would be easy -- get the new 'Stang! The 'Stang you can baby and keep "cherry" to pass on to your kid someday, while the old truck you can really use as a "truck" with no worry of dings, scrapes, dents, or other character marks that come along with using these vehicles for their intended purpose!

Now my truck is a different story. In fact, I think my truck might be gay -- 6 months old, 440 miles, numerous coats of Meguiar's, and its never even been out in the rain!

^^^Thats funny...

Well I guess I just have a lot of thinking to do. I cant really go for too long without a truck anymore. Im just so used to having one and need it to tow the boat around...BUT...the way I am, I need something new, under warranty all the time. I just dont want the worry of having something thats out of warranty and having a major issue with it thats gonna cost big $$$ to fix. Just the way I am....does that sound crazy??

Anyway, I would really like an 07 Shelby, but are there any real numbers out on the car yet? From what I hear its looking like $50,000. I'm not sure that its worth that much "to me" I could buy a GT and get a nice body kit (Eleanor)
do a few mods and be happy with the looks and performance, for a fraction of the cost. Plus do we know for sure when it will be at the dealers? is there going to be a huge dealer markup on it and a 1 or 2 year waiting list???

I'm torn......

From all the stuff I've seen on this car it will be like trying to get ahold of a Ford GT at the dealer level -- you better have plenty of dinero and be sleeping with the owner of the dealership to even have a shot at one!

Suffice to say, you could very likely purchase a new F-150 AND a new Mustang GT for what one of the Shelby's will be running -- and still have a few dollars left over for a "mod" or two!

Look the link below to see the crap going on already with dealer markups. I'd like to sell my truck,my GNs and my collection of GN parts to buy an 07 Shelby Cobra but...Even if I sold my truck,2 cars and allmy parts I still wouldn't have enough $$ without borrowing more.It just doesn't seem like the right thing to do.I don't know how true it is but I heard that all SVT dealers would get 3 07 Shelby Cobras. The 3 nearest Ford dealers near me aren't SVT dealers. The nearest one is 1.5 hours away.
