Opinions needed on a bull bar..

I want to do something different to this Mountaineer that I have. I want to add a chrome "Westin" Bull bar which is pictures here in E-bay with over time lights to go on itBull bar

I have never seen a Mountaineer have one of these on before so I'm not to sure what it looks like on, but I have seen Explorers with them on, but the Mountaineer has a different look on the front end so it doesn't help me to picture in my mind what it would look like on mine.

Do you think a chrome bull bar would look stupid on a all black Mountaineer or not?

I'm asking for honest opinions as I'm not to sure myself

IMHO, I've always wondered why people put Bull Bars and/or Brush Guards on vehicles not meant for off-roading. I'm really not trying to stomp on you here, just wondering. Unless of course, you have a 4WD and a lift on that Mountineer. Now that would be different, and cool. Brings to mind another question: Why do you always see jacked up Suburbs and Tahoes, but never Explorers?

it does have AWD, but I'm not looking to go off road. I just want more looks to it but can't picture in my mind what it looks like with it on.

My buddy has a Mounty, but I can't picture it either. Go to a 4 wheel shop somewhere and have someone hold it up for you. If their intrested in making a sale, they'll do it.

I guess the bar does add an extra degree of protection in a collision. I've just always associated that stuff with off-roaders. I know a guy with a Grand Cherokee who has a bull bar, billet light covers skid plates, everything to make it a BA off-roader. Then he put on 22" rims and low profiles, and wants to lower it 4". Go figure.

I'd like to get more opinions from you guys if you don't mind.

heres a picture of the Front end of my Mountaineer. Would a bull bar look good in your opinion?

If so, would you go with a Chrome or black bull bar? I have no chrome on the outside, all that there is are silver grills, roof rack, tailights. I wasn't sure if I were to go chrome that it would clash together with the silver?

I need some help on deciding...

The bull bar in Tritoneer's case isn't for off roading, but rather it's more for saving the front end next time he plows the garage wall.

This is what he did with the last ride he destroyed before somehow making Ford buy it back.

I guess I was right.

I think that a black bar would look better. It wouldn't draw too much attention to itself, yet still be noticable. A chrome bar would take away from the silver grill.

whats your problem man...why would anyone spend close to 40K on an SUV or truck and have to go mudding to prove he's a man and have to drive through mud to make it look tough! People jack up trucks and SUV's not to just go off roading, but because it looks good and becuase they can.

I belong to another site which they have tons of lifted explorers which aren't just used for mudding, but rather for looks like most people here even do.

Just like your comment to a guy in this fourm who just brought a Lincoln Mark, your comment was ""!Cool! So where are the mud pics? Don't tell me it's only a mall cruzer""" Unless your a millionair and don't give a rats butt what damage you do to a 40K and above truck, then do what ever you want, but for people who take pride in what they drive mod there trucks and SUV's to how they like them to be and not to damage them.

Dang it Tritoneer, now you've ruined my day. I actually have to agree with you in this post because I was thinking pretty muck the exact same thing. I never thought that'd happen. Excuse me, now I have to go stick my head in the oven.
